What’s one of the first things moms-to-be add to their Amazon baby registries? Nursing covers<\/strong>. They’re irresistibly stretchy, and they aren’t just for breastfeeding. Moms also use them as shopping cart supports, car seat covers, and stroller shades. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because of this, options abound. If you’re starting a business selling baby products, then making your brand stand out from the crowd can be challenging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a recent poll, one PickFu user tested<\/a> three main product images of their nursing cover. They targeted females and Amazon Prime Members in order to achieve the most relevant results. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Option A features a cute kiddo in sunglasses using the cover as a shopping cart support, a mom breastfeeding her baby, and two more photos of the cover in action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Option B, there’s still a cute baby. But instead of showing all the uses of the nursing cover, this image includes a photo of what appears to be a gift bag you can stuff the cover into. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Option C shows the nursing cover primarily as a car seat cover, and there’s no baby smiling at us from any of the photos. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can you guess which one won? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the winner is…Option A! With a score of 56 votes to Option B’s 24 and Option C’s 20, Option A is the clear winner. <\/p>\n\n\n

A cute baby is a must when starting a business selling baby products<\/h2>\n\n\n

Respondents loved the image of the baby with sunglasses in Option A. While the baby in Option B is also adorable, respondents were confused by his bandana. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I don’t like the separate photo of the baby,” said one female. “It doesn’t really fit. I can’t figure out what is around his neck…is it the item?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main difference between the two babies is that in Option A, the baby is using the nursing cover as a shopping cart support. In Option B, the baby isn’t using the cover at all. <\/p>\n\n\n

Show as many uses as possible<\/h2>\n\n\n

Out of the three images, Option A presents the most possible uses for the cover. Many respondents commented on this, saying that Option A’s image makes the product “appear to be more versatile than the others.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another added, “I would not know what all the possibilities are with this product unless I saw it shown the way that it is in Option A.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Option B appears to show an extra bib and gift bag, but users weren’t convinced by these extras<\/a> \u2014 they seemed irrelevant to the product. <\/p>\n\n\n

Continuity matters<\/h2>\n\n\n

Several of the comments featured detailed feedback on which pattern they preferred. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because the three product images all feature different patterns, some respondents answered the PickFu user’s poll question while others gave feedback on the covers themselves. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a classic example of a double-barreled question<\/a>. In order to get the most reliable results in any poll, it’s important to ask one question and only change one variable throughout the photos. <\/p>\n\n\n

Key takeaways for starting a business selling baby products<\/h2>\n\n\n

If you’re selling a product for new moms, include<\/g> a photo of a baby using that product. Moms-to-be crave this visual information about how their future child will use the product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Make sure you include photos of several ways to use a versatile product like a nursing cover. Don’t make the image too busy, but include 3-4 different ways to make the product work for a new mom and her baby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And finally, keep your images consistent, testing only one variable at once. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
