People <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.pickfu.com\/black-friday-shopping\/\" class=\"ek-link\">love a good deal<\/a>. If they can\u2019t afford something, they\u2019ll move on. Price obviously matters. They see a lot of product listings, and they know what to look for in pet products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To them, this photo hits all the marks from both a visual and emotional standpoint: attractive layout, quality product, and an adorable dog to boot. Woof.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Besides the right audience, there\u2019s one more thing you have to target correctly: the right variable \u2013 and only the right variable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div data-getsitecontrol-inline=\"422710\"><\/div>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"test-one-thing-at-a-time\">4. Test one thing at a time<\/h3>\n\n\n<p>Whether you use PickFu or another platform, you\u2019ll get the most value out of your A\/B image tests if you remember two things:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Every detail matters.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Test one element at a time.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Online shoppers can\u2019t hold, sniff, or squeeze your product. They rely on the photos on your homepage or in your e-commerce store.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sure, they\u2019re looking at colors, patterns, and sizes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But even the color of a prop or the angle of your product photo can impact how a customer feels and ultimately, whether they\u2019ll want to buy it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Science backs this up. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.researchgate.net\/publication\/355722443_EXPRESS_Observing_Product_Touch_The_Vicarious_Haptic_Effect_in_Digital_Marketing_and_Virtual_Reality\" class=\"ek-link\">Consumers who see a hand touching a product<\/a> in a photo, video, or virtual reality scene have a higher affinity for that product. I.e., they like the product more, will pay more for it, and are more likely to buy it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our users have seen this, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Take our case study of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pickfu.com\/case-studies\/vendo-commerce\" class=\"ek-link\">Vendo Commerce<\/a>. The e-commerce agency needed to create new brand imagery for its client, a top beauty brand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vendo ran a simple two-image PickFu poll to test the existing main image for the featured product, a hairbrush on its own, against a photo of the brush in its packaging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The second photo was the clear winner. Vendo updated all its imagery accordingly. Since then, purchase orders across the brand have gone up between 5-11% every week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vendo Commerce doesn\u2019t just test hairbrushes, either. It\u2019s asking two questions, which is one too many.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The photos are confusing, too. Two of them show an empty tray placed next to the packaging. The third image shows the tray filled with utensils\u2026minus the packaging\u2026shot from an entirely different angle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This poll is ripe for a redo. It needs a focused question and consistent photos comparing either the packaging or the styling of the product, not both.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"revise-your-photos-and-keep-testing\">5. Optional: Revise your photos and keep testing<\/h3>\n\n\n<p>If the poll example I just showed you tells us anything, it\u2019s that image testing and optimization isn\u2019t a one-and-done process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s iterative. You\u2019re constantly <a href=\"https:\/\/pics.io\/version-control\" class=\"ek-link\">testing, revising, then testing again<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This approach can apply to anything you\u2019re working on: product photos, but also physical product design, your website, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Take a look at this <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.pickfu.com\/electronics-manufacturer-case-study\/\" class=\"ek-link\">case study of an electronics manufacturer<\/a> that sells its earphones on Amazon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company went through 15 rounds of main image testing for a pair of earphones with a stagnant conversion rate.
