Split testing isn’t just for product images. It’s equally effective for choosing the products you want to sell and, more importantly, people want to buy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this PickFu poll<\/a>, the user couldn’t decide between two home decor signs. Both feature an inspirational saying written on white tiles using the same two fonts. There’s one small difference. Option A says, “Wash your troubles away.” Option B reads, “Wash your worries away.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can you guess which one won?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the winner with 36 of 50 votes, chosen in just 27 minutes, is…Option B<\/strong>, “Wash your worries away.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why does worries<\/em> resonate with so many people? How much difference can a single word really make? Let\u2019s look at respondents\u2019 comments to understand.<\/p>\n\n\n

A for alliteration <\/h2>\n\n\n

Respondents focused mostly on the sound of the phrase. Those who voted for Option B liked the flow of the words<\/a> wash<\/em> and worries<\/em>, saying the alliteration<\/a> makes the phrase sound “catchy” and “whimsical.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEasier to say the phrase,\u201d one person wrote. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But alliteration wasn’t the only factor at play. Some respondents looked at the two options from a psychological angle. Option B’s message is more relatable and inspiring, they said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I prefer worries<\/em> to troubles<\/em> because worries are internal and are something a person can control,\u201d said one respondent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another person elaborated on the idea, saying, \u201cI like the idea of using worries<\/em> instead of troubles<\/em>. Even though they mean the same thing, really I think worries<\/em> has a more positive or less threatening tone to it.”<\/p>\n\n\n

Still, some respondents who voted for Option A said that troubles<\/em> is the more melodic word and the phrase “Wash your troubles away” is more popular, citing its use in songs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

One thing’s for sure: the results are sure to wash away any doubt for the PickFu user who ran the poll.<\/p>\n\n\n
