This one better grabs my attention. It's more like something I'd like.

i felt the description was in depth enough to explain the story but short enough not to lose interest.

First of all, the attention span stays with the shorter synopsis. Second, the opening two sentences are very catchy.

Option A caught my attention as soon as I began reading it. It is suspenseful and interesting. Option B sounds more common and everyday. When I started reading option A I like how the excitement began right away. I just wanted to keep on reading and learning more

The other one was too long and included some unnecessary details

Short is an inviting read and easy to stick with and remember.

I think the lengthy introduction in B is unnecessary and make it looks boring. A is a better choice in this case.

I chose A because it is short, sweet, and to the point. I am not unlike other consumers in that I like simplicity.

I like the sound of A. Melodraamatic. The description keeps going forward. The best adventure stories set up on the premise and just keep going. And then? And then? And then? Classic adventure story stucture.

A option saves me time and gives a more concise synopsis of the storyline.

A is much better than B due to the terrible introduction to B. It doesn't set up any cliffhangers that I would want to resolve and is not a compelling scene to draw a reader into the book. Also, the introduction of Gem as being abandoned by her friends is depressing. I'd much rather read about a Gem who has to follow a treasure map to the Great Diamond. While 'outcast' and 'abandoned by friends' have similar outcomes the context of being a societal outcast is radically different from being simply abandoned by one's friends.

This version gives a good synopsis of the story, is interesting, but not too long. Middle schoolers have a short attention span.

Option A does not spell out that Gem is a rock and that makes it more interesting to figure it out on your own.

I felt this passage was short and to the point without being too wordy.

Although I like the descriptiveness of option B, I think for middle schoolers, a short introduction will capture their minds more easily. The intro with option A and the great diamond (misspelled in the text) seems to be appropriate for that age level. It feels positive and adventuresome without laying too much of the story down.

Love the title and story plot! It was interesting and kept my attention.

I prefer option A because I feel like option B is a more drawn out example of choice A. It's straight to the point without adding extra nonsense words.

I love how the first paragraph sets a super descriptive scene that gets me interested from the get go. I also enjoyed the following summary paragraph about what to expect in the book.

I love option B because it really sucked me into the story. The first paragraph made me feel like I was right there with her going to class, even though she is a rock! That really made me more interested in the story. Option A is a shorter more concise summary, but I don't feel as much for the character because it starts out with something so far into fantasy land that I can't see myself there with gem.

Choice B gets much more personal and much more relatable sooner than option A.

Choice B gives a better understanding of the book's tone. It pulls you into the adventure before you even finish the first paragraph. Choice A sounds very much like an advertisement you may hear for a preschool television show and sounds very childish.
