Which app icon do you prefer for a social media landing page?

This is a 2 option poll with 200 respondents. A sample of responses:

• The splash of blue catches my eye and soothes, unlike red which is unsettling. I really like the spacecraft (?) logo--totally original, captivating and memorable. While the spacecraft appears launching in the blue image, it gets lost in the left red visual, at the same time the Global TecK name not really jumping out either. I assume the company name would be close to the blue logo on the landing page. But for launching a landing page the blue logo is perfect.
• I prefer option B because of it's simplicity. I feel like app icons should be kept simple, and non-cluttered. It makes them look neater and more professional. App icons tend to be a small image, so when you add text (unless it's short words with larger lettering), it has a tendency to look messing and illegible. App icons with bold imagery and bright colors tend to stand out better and are easier for the user to find.
• I prefer the landing page to have the name of the company and not just the logo, so I prefer Option A here. Also, the choice of colors and design in Option B really remind me of the colors used by the Democratic candidates in the last election cycle (a solid blue background incorporating white and red elements), so I'd maybe avoid using it just in case other people have similar associations.

• I chose B as the best logo because it has a very modern graphic that looks very intriguing and eyecatching. A is similar but seems a little less unique than choice B, and not as memorable. C was my third because it still has a nice graphic with a striking color scheme and expresses dynamic movement. D is my fourth choice because it looks almost like C but looks like an 8 bit version so not as modern/advanced. Choice E was my fifth and last choice because it didn't have any sort of graphic shape that could make it more memorable. It just looks wordier which gets more lost and doesn't stick in my mind if I try to remember it later.
• C - This design best goes with the company's name. The graphic looks like an M and is very clever. B - The cube design looks cool. Almost as if it's a theater with two screens facing the audience. A - Also has this same look except too "cubey". Not as on the nose. D- I didn't know what to think of this design. Didn't really stand out. E - Looks too basic as if it was made in mspaint.
• I think this is some type of audio app for my phone that should allow me to experience better audio. I looked at all 5 of the app icons and placed them in order based on how much I liked the icon. I think the icons that looked like an unique listening experience were placed higher in my list. I felt the M3D icon didn't inspire me that much, so I placed it last.

Which app icon do you prefer?

• Choices B and A were by top two picks because I like the tiered star logo shape that they both had. Choice B was ahead of Choice A because I like how it has a more defined and bordered look to it. Choices C and D were my next two picks because I liked them better then Choice E. I had Choice C ahead of Choice D because I liked the dotted look on the lines better then the solid approach. Choice E was last because it is just two letters and I have no idea what they mean or stand for.
• I chose the starred, i.e. with stars, options 1st and 2nd because the star appears to be button prompt. A simple button prompt appeals to me because that is likely all it is. I prefer less the two options with simulated equalizers because they suggest one can manually adjust the equalizer, but I doubt one can with the button, or even on the next screen. The button with "CG" I ranked last, because I don't know what CG means and I should have to go to any trouble to figure that out.
• D and C were #1 and #2 because the picture of the blue tabs on yellow lines relates to the name "Meyer Sound" as it reminds me of the tab you use to push up the volume and lower the volume. They were ranked higher because the pics make sense.On the other hand E was ranked last because "CG" does not make sense at all; I don't see how it relates to Meyer Sound.A and B fell in between and were ranked in the middle because they have clean logos but are not as relatable as D and C.

Which App Icon do you prefer?

• Choice A is my top pick because it is the design I like the best. I really like the color, shading and symmetry that the box symbol has to it. It just looks really good. Choice B was my second pick because I like how the symbol looks like a sun with rays of light shining on to each of the four square corner pieces. Choice C was third because I like how all of the circles over lap with each other and it creates a cool pattern to it. Choice D was fourth because the logo is just okay. Compared to the first three choices I mentioned it is just so bland, boring and creative. Choice E was last because I do not like it at all. I have no idea what SMG is even supposed to stand for.
• My first choice is Option B because since this is a sound company, this picture looks like a room with speakers blasting sound from four speakers in the corners of the room. Option C, my second choice, also looks like four speakers that are blasting intersecting sound waves. Option A reminds me a music box and the orange highlights would represent the music playing and the sound warming the space around it. Option D was just okay, but I thought it was more simplistic compared to the other pictures. Option E, with just the lettering, is way too plain of a design; it does not leave an imprint on you like the pictures.

This is a 1 option poll with 50 respondents targeting Age Range (55 64, 35 44, 45 54). A sample of responses:

• For me, its a VERY close tossup between E and A. The primary reason being, I would think a rural / farm girl wouldn't go too crazy on the makeup / prettying herself up.. (especially given the work you'd assume she's going to be up to) I know in my travels to the more rural parts of this country a lot more women look like E then most of the other representations.
• I chose Choice B or the brown eyed girl for representing a typical rural American girl because I would imagine there are more girls in the states with brown eyes than not. Now for which one looks to be more of a heroine I would have to go with Choice A or C. Option A or C for a good heroine because they give me a look of rebellion in their expressions.
• I would say Option C has the best overall appearance and the most representative of a American girl. She has a look in her eyes that's smart but not overbearing and still retains a semblance of youth and vigor. Of the others some have a glint that's cynical or the wide eyed innocence that are both offputting.
• I chose option "A" because the character appears to be tougher than the the other choices and can be imagined as more of a heroine. Her expression says "Don't mess with me!". I also think she looks like a typical rural American girl with her big blue eyes.

Which icon do you prefer for a fun mobile app that connects college-aged students?

This is a 2 option poll with 50 respondents. A sample of responses:

• I chose B because it represents a sea lion, and sea lions are known to be funny and energetic and smart animal. I also think the color of the app expresses a lot about maturity compared to the other option.
• I think this icon stands out because of the way the bird is presented. It kind of reminds me of Angry Bird, yet this one seems a lot more friendly. It's still collage-age appropriate, though.
• A is much brighter and unique than B. If I had B on my phone it would blend in too much and honestly I would forget about. Then just delete it a few months later.
• Its a colorful Icon that stands out. Will be easy to recognize on the mobile device being used. The light blue frame is great.
• I really like otters a lot more than parrots, and the otter icon looks much cleaner and simpler than the parrot icon.
• I believe college age kids would be more curious in this one as option A looks like it would be for a small child.
• Birds like in option A are over-represented in marketing. The otter stands out more and is simply more cute.
• I have too many blue background icons on my home screen, so I'd prefer the red. Also, the seal looks cool.
• The more colors make it standout more and some people might automatically associate it with angry birds.

Which app icon is best?

• I'm assuming this is for a dating service, so this image portrays more what I think of with this type of app--a person looking at their phone to find a date. It's more eye catching and gives a clearer image of what the app is.
• I like this one better because it is pretty eye catching. I like the layout of the design where it isn't too flashy and obnoxious. Not only do I like the layout design but I also really enjoy the color scheme.
• I really dislike the bright purple/pink coloring in Option A - it's really hard on the eyes. Also the logo text doesn't stand out anywhere near as well in Option A as it does in Option B.
• I selected choice A because it automatically stood out and captured my attention. I think the colors and the over all design are more visually appealing to the eye than the other choice.
• The female in the picture makes it look like this is only for women. If you want men to use the app too, you need to have it be gender neutral so it can appeal to all sexes.
• Because A shows a woman, what if I'm a woman looking for a man? This icon doesn't appeal to me. The one with just text is more neutral. And I like the heart.
• A is little more striking but the pink silhouette doesn't do anything for me. Another color might work better but otherwise I have to go with B.

Which app icon is better for a mobile game?

This is a 3 option poll with 50 respondents targeting Play Mobile Games (Yes). A sample of responses:

• C looks the nicest out of the 3. Option B looks like he is plotting something and A looks like he is yelling at someone. I chose C first because I'm not a fan of strategy games which option B reminds me of and I don't want to get angry while playing a game which option A reminds me of.
• B looks like the avatar is in heavy concentration, focused on their task. C looks a little more approachable, which I don't know if that's what you want in an avatar. A looks like they're just losing their mind. Mind losing is not an attractive quality.
• I think that B looks very intense but not as stressful looking as #2. Comparing C to the others, I think the person looks too serious and calm. I'm guessing that the game relates more to A & B so I don't think that C should be used.
• I think option A is the worst as I would not like to look at someone screaming. I like option C because it gives the appearance of confidence. Option B is close to A because I think it is more clear what the icon is related to.
• I put the three icons in this order because of how serious and also professional it would make the game look. With the way these icons are drawn, the more angry/less calm this man looks, the less serious the game seems to be.

Which app icon design do you like more?

• Choice A - blue box with swirl - this caught my eye and if I have to look at an app icon logo everyday I would prefer one that does not glare at me. It is a cool calm color of blue that will stand out among my other application icons. Choice B and Choice C - Choice B is better because of the busier background. Choice C - is just too similar to other Icons that have a solid background color. A lot of icons seem to use red to attract the eye of the potential user to the point that after awhile they all look the same. The blue green combination of Choice A would stand out among the rest of my icons.
• I like the simple contrast between the bright red background and the white swirl. The bright red is a pleasing color. That's why I rated C as my first choice. I like the blue and green boxes behind the white swirl. These are some of my favorite colors. That said, I still like the bright red color in Option C better than the cool colors in the background for Image A. Image B was fine but the reds in the background are not as appealing as the background colors in C or A.
• The white scribble on the design doesn't clearly mean anything to me, so when it is on plain red (C) it just seems to plain, without meaning something. I like the blue/green theme better than the red (not as glare-y) and the textured cubes in the background give it depth and add visual interest. Normally I quite like simple designs, but it's not like this is an icon that is easily associated with something

Which app icon is better for a fantasy, RPG mobile game?

This is a 3 option poll with 50 respondents targeting Play Mobile Games (Yes). A sample of responses:

• This was a tough choice for me; I like all three option quite a bit. I choose this order, because my first choice, option A, has a better looking wand streak and I like the person's hair color better then option C, my second choice. My third choice does not have a wand, so I ranked it last. Even so, I liked the star images in this icon.
• Option C represents more of a fantasy feel with the wand and blue magic swirl. Option A is also good, but it has no contrast with the blue haired girl with the blue magic swirl. The red haired girl with the blue swirl shows up better. Option B looks like a Halloween type witch.
• Choice C, the magic swirl is cute and colors are nice they are not dark detail easy to see. Choice A, Magic coming off wand is cute however colors are very dark. Choice B just seems like something is missing.
• I like that Option A and C have wands with the glitter Option A was my first choice because of the blue hair. And option B was my lst choice because it is mmore bland than the others.
• I like the magic effects in A and C thought I think the color palette and magic effect in A is better than the one in C. The magic effects let gamers know what the game may feature.
• I choose A as a favorite because the graphic is better defined. The light Sabre is a cool effect and makes it appear more vibrant. The last option is extremely dull in comparison.
