# Keyword development

> Sample poll questions for keyword development: discover the words and search phrases real shoppers use so you can optimize SEO and sponsored content.

It's great that different channel management tools can help find popular keywords, but you should ensure you are using the same keywords and phrases your potential customers are using to search online. Not only that, but your SEO and sponsored content needs to be optimized for people looking on search engines outside of selling channels that push traffic to you AND checking to see what you're competitors are using.

## Questions you could ask:

"How would you describe this product to a friend if you were referring it?"

"If you were searching online for \[insert product], what words would you use to find it?"

"Do you think luxurious is a fitting word for this product? Why or why not?"
