A

A looks better, the beard on B looks a bit like a poop.

A

Option A is a nicer looking person. Also I don't like all the teeth and tongue being seen.

A

Beards are becoming overused in mobile gaming icons. Having a character that is a little more refined will mark an app as something visually different.

A

both are pretty ugly.. but B's beard looks a lot weirder.

A

The other icon looks too goofy with the tongue hanging out.

A

Looks cooler to me overall

A

The tongue sticking out killed it for me.

A

This character looks younger and more menacing

A

I picked A because I think the tongue is weird.

A

This one is more cool and fun looking.

A

I don't really like either one, but this one isn't as silly looking as the other one. The tongut and beard are atrocious on "B"

A

The clean cut, thinner image, gives me the impression of strength. It makes me think about how the main character must be strong and fit. The snarl also says he is ready to fight. The other image is just silly.

A

It looks less Clash of Clans-esque.

A

I think A is more appealing visually, whereas choice B is a bit crude looking.

A

Option A looks strong, looks like a leader, and has a unique hairdo. Option B looks strong, but looks more brutish.

A

A depicts a better-looking person.

A

Option A looks more rounded and more pleasant to looks st.

A

because option b looks weird

A

Seems to make more sense.

A

the fact he doesn't have his tongue sticking out makes it more appealing.

A

B looks too unpolished

A

I like A because I can see the character's jawline. It looks like a real person more, reminds me of a friend.

A

I don't have a strong preference; while B seems more original, I slightly prefer the more traditional "strong man" look in Option A.

A

A is my choice. His eyes are the same color of deep blue. And he has interesting hair. His nose shape also suggests he's not a drunk.

A

Option A is far more attractive, while Option B is hideous.

A

He is less ogre-like

A

I do not like the "facial" hair on icon B. It looks gross.

A

I like the more rugged handsomeness of the character in B. The other guy gives me the creeps.

A

The chin thing on the other one reminds me of a penis....and just doesn't appeal to me.

A

They are both free nice I think the top face is more memorable although the bottom one is nice too

A

Option B just seems weird. Option A is much better!

A

Don't like to see the teeth and tongue

A

Looks more sinister

A

B has an orge type look to him which is not a personal preference to me when selecting video game characters.

A

beard is weird in B

A

The expression looks more thoughtful

A

Other guy looks too strange

A

This one's very interesting! Heh. For some reason I strongly prefer the icon with the blue eyes. Also, one more reason I like the other one less is that it seems weird the way he's sticking his tongue out (although, his eyebrows are fun). The other guy's expression is far more effective. Choice A is way better.

A

I like the angle on option A with the character facing left and the close up than option B.

A

The other one looks like fat, yuck/

A

I like the angry look on his face the other one with his tongue out just doesn't appeal to me. A looks more professional and fitting

A

Option A the icon is more eye catching

A

Looks more cooler and cuter

A

The guy with his tongue hanging out is gross.

A

prefer the graphic of a

A

I prefer this one because of the side burns and the color of the eyes. I do not like the tongue hanging out on the other option.

A

Sticking the tongue out looks stupid.

A

i dont like the tongue sticking out at all on the other guy,

A

the character in choice A looks more like he's been in war and ready for war. He looks intense. the guy in choice B just looks like he's tasting something intensely

A

The facial expression on B is stupid

A

The dude with the beard ponytail and the tongue sticking out just looks creepy. It also looks like he has two different colored eyes. I much prefer the "stank face" of choice A.

A

Option B just looks a little strange. He looks more like a dwarf so I guess it depends what style youre going for

A

This guy is just kind of interesting. He looks a little evil but yet strong and young.

A

I don't really like seeing that guys tongue.

A

I don't particularly care for either image, but if I had to pick one A is slightly better then B mostly because I don't want to have an image with someone sticking out their tongue, animated or not.

A

The tongue is sort of weird, so i would avoid it.

A

I don't like the tongue sticking out in B

A

the other looks awkward as if he's hungry

A

It depends on if the icon represents a hero or villain but I chose "A" because he is better looking and I would prefer that over the long term.

B

This guy looks a little cooler.

B

looks the best

B

Option B looks more like a typical video game character.

B

It looks more playful

B

I thibk the image looks cooler

B

I do love beards!

B

While Option A is more attractive, he is almost too "pretty". Option B is more interesting and fun to look at. He looks like he has a lot of personality!

B

just looks better

B

There is just more detail in B which i enjoy.

B

B has more character, A looks generic

B

Choice B has more personality.

B

because he looks cuter

B

it looks funnier

B

I went with this choice simply because it looks like more of a character you'd see in a game and less of a cartoon like the other option.

B

Looks more unique/memorable.

B

Choice B has quite a few unique characteristics like the chin ring. Choice A looks like a common character in video games.

B

He looks less bad, so I'm going with him.

B

The picture is more interesting

B

I like seeing the tongue

B

this picture is more unique.

B

Shows more detail which would make you interested in the game.

B

Looks more action based.

B

Looks interesting mean and fun

B

The long hair is just plain weird

B

Looks more like the hero than a villain

B

It's funnier with his tongue sticking out.

B

Choice B looks more fun and like he has more personality.

B

Ewww on the hair is the other guy.

B

When I seen Option B it make me laugh. If it can do that, it's cute enough to make me want to see more.

B

This one is not your average hero, and looks a little sillier with the tongue. :)

B

the other one is really ugly

B

I like B because he looks goofy, human, but tough!

B

The bulky, bearded character is more attractive.

B

I think I like the big teeth in this the most in this picture. Both look very well designed but this big lug looks entertaining.

B

this one made me laugh just a little with his tounge poking out

B

More interesting character

B

the colors are nicer

B

I like the elaborate beard.

B

I don't really like either because of the facial expressions but this one looks more unique and manly.

B

I like option B more because it looks more intense and gritty.

Survey Analysis

Winning Option: Characteristics and Appeal

  • Option B emerged as the preferred brand packaging design, securing 12 out of 15 votes. Respondents frequently highlighted its aesthetic appeal, emphasizing the luxurious and high-quality impression it conveys. The ability to stack packages was a notable practical advantage mentioned by participants.
  • Several respondents appreciated the monochrome color scheme of Option B, which they found less overwhelming compared to more colorful designs. This preference for simplicity suggests that minimalistic designs may resonate well with this group.
  • Additionally, environmental considerations played a role in favoring Option B; some participants noted its reduced plastic usage and recyclability as attractive features.

Key Topics Across Options

  1. Aesthetic Appeal: Across both options, aesthetics were crucial in influencing preferences. Participants often referred to colors and overall design quality when justifying their choices.

  2. Environmental Concerns: Both options had respondents who valued environmentally friendly aspects of packaging. However, while Option A was praised for being reusable and eco-friendly by some, others perceived Option B’s reduced plastic use as more sustainable.

  3. Practicality: Practical elements such as ease of stacking (Option B) or suitability for travel (Option B) were significant factors in decision-making processes.

Hypotheses for Further Testing

  • Investigate whether minimalistic designs consistently outperform colorful ones across different demographic groups or product categories.

  • Explore if environmental messaging on packaging significantly influences consumer preference when compared with other attributes like luxury perception or practicality.

  • Assess how important stacking capability is relative to other functional benefits in various contexts such as home storage versus travel convenience.

These hypotheses can guide further research into understanding deeper consumer motivations behind packaging preferences observed in this survey context.
