It would be a short trial for me to try the app, it would need to have a high success rate

No I definitely wouldn't use it because I wouldn't have the patience to watch other videos and I wouldn't want to waste time uploading my own video.

Yes because you really see the person, so less chance of cat fishing.

For reasons I have expressed prior to this HIT, I would not use it. Now, having had actual visual evidence of how it would play out, I am even less convinced that such an App would propel users to be sincere. Additionally, the idea of liking/swiping potential "candidates" relegates people to items, and I in no way am interested in the commodification of people.

I think the app would be nice , but it not for me i dont like making videos of myself

I think it could be an alright idea.

I don't think it's anything really unique or special. I'm sure there's dating sites that allow you to post videos.

It provides an idea of whether someone is social but there are people who are not social (self conscious).

Now this is a good time for a dating app

I think this is a good idea that would help to learn more about people and get a better idea of their intelligence and personality.

I like seeing the girls ahead of time

I thought that the branding for the video was great! I would consider it if I were single.

I like they use icebreaker type questions.

I appreciate that the participants are given the chance to share about themselves in a video format and that's useful for getting an idea of who someone is, more than just your average text-based profile. However, what keeps me from giving it a full five stars, is that some of the questions seem particularly shallow or silly. I'd prefer questions that dig a little deeper. They don't have to be serious, but perhaps a psychologist could help develop questions that reveal more about a person while still maintaining the light, friendly tone. People have fluff-fatigue sometimes, overwhelmed by the "what dessert are you" type quizzes, and they crave true, meaningful connection. If you can help them toward that while still maintaining a light-hearted tone, it could be incredibly powerful. If I were single, I might consider using this app but I'd have to explore it in more depth and see the range of questions before I committed to it.

The videos are kind of awkward and I can see people showing things that are inappropriate on the platform.

This seems rather ideal but I do have some reservations about the privacy aspect of this service. It seems to be somewhat similar to other dating apps such as Tinder or Grindr. There is not too much seen here that hasn't been done already in the past.

Yes it is more personal

I think that the video wasn't that engaging. To me, it was just a bunch of women who were just answering questions about a certain topic and it got boring really quick. Perhaps making a a comedy skit or scenario in which people use the app would engage viewers better and make it more interesting.

After seeing a demo of the app in use, I could definitely see me using this. It has the premise of using questions to get to know your mate and fall in love, mixed in with live/recorded video of the answers. It's kind of neat and an additional layer of getting to see someone and see their answers. It gives an extra layer and glimpse of the person you're interested in.

Yes, I think this is a good idea. It tells you more about the user and you can be sure they are not a bot

Fantastic idea, seems like the app is designed really well and it seems like a great way to get the initial conversation started

I would not use it since I am camera shy. However, if videos were optional then maybe. I think pictures are still effective.

I would not use it. It just seems a little too awkward.

Sure its a new spin on the online dating scene

No, I would not use it. It is a nice new way for a dating up though I would say. It gives a short clip of a person and it shows there mood so you can tell if the person is nice or not.

Lets you see someone in the moment/experience how they are.

Yes because it would be better to see how people actually are in real life.

I definitely would check it out since the video makes it harder for people to work the angles.

I love it! You can really tell a lot about a person by the way the speak and how they carry themselves in conversation. Aside from finding people with compatible answers, you can really dig a bit deeper than what they write in their profile.

I think it seems like a fun app to use and a fun app to get to know people but the questions dont seem adequate enough as a dating app

it will be soo good

I don't like the name because it makes me think of a movie app, not a dating app. I do like how you can make a video so you cant filter your pictures and people can see who you really are.

The ability to see what a person is like via video would be helpful since it would be much more informative about the type of person they are, how they act, their attractiveness, etc. Text on a screen can be copied from other places or be very bland, and it doesn't allow you to really get to know the person who wrote it. Plus, some people don't even use pictures of themselves, so a video would be much better.

The market is way too oversaturated with these things

Yeah. I defintiely would use it. It skips the first date basically and removes all the akwardness

I do like the video messages as it allows you to get to know the person better, however, I am not sure if I would like to record myself.

Sure, looks like real people and not too fake with actors. The concept is very unique.

There are already good/better options out there that have a better user base

My first thoughts are a lot of performance anxiety. I can see how the seeing the reactions to the questions would be really helpful to figuring out if someone was compatible, however it feels really intimate in a way and im not sure what the social reactions would be it makes me very nervous but im curious to see what might happen.

I think I would use this app because getting spontaneous verbal answers is probably more revealing of someone's true personality than a written profile that the person can spend a lot of time on. I think this app would probably give more authentic views of people's personalities.

It makes me feel really awkward

I would be uncomfortable doing a video of myself

I don't use dating apps in general, but this one seems interesting by having a person answer a unique question that lets you know about their personality.

I think there are enough dating apps already. Also this seems more like it will be used for memes than actual dating.

does it mean that there are questions that they are already given, like ice breakers and I judge based on how they answer if I might like them? I like being able to see a real person and hearing them. sucks that they are responding in general and not to me though

I would use it because I would feel like it would allow partners to see me before the date, making it less likely they would be disappointed when they see me in person because they were expecting something different. Always a person's voice is very important to me, so I'd like being able to hear it.

I would. It feels like a much more genuine way to get to know about someone than just reading text. Actually gives you a sense of their real personality, not just witty words that could be written by anyone.

I would use this. I think it's nice to get a little information about a person, even if they are goofy little questions. We get an idea of their charisma, and how they talk, this gives us much more detail than just a picture.

I think REEL is a very creative and innovative dating app that incorporates short video snippets answering personality questions. I wouldn't use it if I was single because I'm not as comfortable in front of a camera, so it's probably not for me. Although, I do like the concept of it.

i think being able to see a video shows how personable a person is and shows more about their qualities

Survey Analysis

Winning Option: Characteristics and Appeal

  • Option B emerged as the preferred brand packaging design, securing 12 out of 15 votes. Respondents frequently highlighted its aesthetic appeal, emphasizing the luxurious and high-quality impression it conveys. The ability to stack packages was a notable practical advantage mentioned by participants.
  • Several respondents appreciated the monochrome color scheme of Option B, which they found less overwhelming compared to more colorful designs. This preference for simplicity suggests that minimalistic designs may resonate well with this group.
  • Additionally, environmental considerations played a role in favoring Option B; some participants noted its reduced plastic usage and recyclability as attractive features.

Key Topics Across Options

  1. Aesthetic Appeal: Across both options, aesthetics were crucial in influencing preferences. Participants often referred to colors and overall design quality when justifying their choices.

  2. Environmental Concerns: Both options had respondents who valued environmentally friendly aspects of packaging. However, while Option A was praised for being reusable and eco-friendly by some, others perceived Option B’s reduced plastic use as more sustainable.

  3. Practicality: Practical elements such as ease of stacking (Option B) or suitability for travel (Option B) were significant factors in decision-making processes.

Hypotheses for Further Testing

  • Investigate whether minimalistic designs consistently outperform colorful ones across different demographic groups or product categories.

  • Explore if environmental messaging on packaging significantly influences consumer preference when compared with other attributes like luxury perception or practicality.

  • Assess how important stacking capability is relative to other functional benefits in various contexts such as home storage versus travel convenience.

These hypotheses can guide further research into understanding deeper consumer motivations behind packaging preferences observed in this survey context.
