Rewarding positive behavior and showing individual growth might make them feel better about themselves.

I think it is a good idea to have an app that can help veterans with mental health and reward them.

I think anything we can do to help veterans is a good thing. Many vets battle depression, PTSD, etc. This could really help them understand their feelings in the day to day

I would imagine so--accountability is always helpful.

yes. i feel like something that rewards anyone is very beneficial, because it gives someone something to work on and look forward to. it makes them feel like what the did was good. positive reinforcement is just that - positive.

I think it would. A lot of people use phones today for many reasons and making it easier for veterans to to have access to mental health help along with a rewarding system for there advancement would be beneficial. It would also be beneficial to have some form of community support with the app also.

IT VERY WELL COULD BE.

I think it would be very useful to help inspire people that have issues. Being able to document growth could help inspire positive facts. However, I think it would have issues with individual management of this app, and there would be issues to work out as a result-- tailoring it to individual needs could be an issue.

It would give them someone to talk to and have a relationship with

It would be very beneficial. The tough part is getting them to use it. There is still so much stigma around mental health issues. I would like an app like that for my self. we all have long term goals sometimes we need periodic reminders to push us to make incremental gains

I think it would be beneficial for the entire population, not just veterans! But this is a really good idea to help veterans with their specific issues too.

ANYTHING TO HELP VETERENS i AM ALL FOR. AS LONG AS VETERANS WOULD BE WILLING TO USE IT.

I am of the belief that getting positive reinforcement can help people of all ages.

Yes - from what I know, veterans face lots of challenges adapting back to civilian life, and organizational tools would be good

Yes, a gamified app would likely be very helpful because there is something else to focus on besides just the problem. When dealing with depression and anxiety, sometimes normal tasks can feel "impossible" and the person procrastinates, to their own detriment. So an app that could give a different incentive for doing something could really be helpful.

It will be a needed response to PTSD. Most individual grow in interactive platform so it will be better than nothing

It would be nice if the app gave helpful criticism

It would be if veterans are willing to use it and know how to so that needs to be taken into consideration.

I think it would help give them a purpose. It gives them something to look forward too.

I think it is a decent idea, if properly implemented. Would also depend on what the rewards would be.

I think in theory it is a good idea, but a lot of veterans who need mental health care need and deserve more than just an app to help them.

What a great idea for those with PTSD

It might, but it may be seen as a bit patronizing as well. I think it depends on the personality.

This would improve the mental health of any population.

To me. We not at a point were veterans wouldn't understand a smartphone based application. In 10 years yes. but now no were not at an age were they would be able to use it and understand the application without spending 20 minutes to figure out how the app would work or even download it in that matter. I'm not being bias but i work in I.T. and most veterans don't understand how an app would work.

It depends on how easy it is to use and what the rewards are. I think the app would be helpful just because its for the veteran population but the reward would have to be a worthy incentive to warrant using it.

Why just vets? This sounds beneficial to anyone suffering from mental health symptoms. But yes, absolutely a great idea!

I think it would be helpful if it was easy to use and was unobtrusive. I am curious about what kind of reward an app would give.

I think the focus should be on recording the individual's growth more so than rewarding behavior. Rewarding behavior seems like a tough sell because it seems like they're being treated like children.

Mental health management apps with features such as those described could be beneficial to the vast majority of the population, regardless of veteran status. That said, given the high rates of mental illness in the veteran population (as relative to those who have not served in the military), I think the veteran population in particular could especially benefit from an app like this.

I believe veterans face a lot of stigma for any mental illness they may be diagnosed with and may feel weak for asking for help regarding these illnesses or any experiences they had. Having an app, which would be private to oneself, could help battle that stigma while promoting self-care for rewarding growth. This could make a big impact on the veteran population.

Yes I think this would be a beneficial app. Many vets are benefited by routine and when they incorporate those positive routines in their daily life it would help to have a visualization of their progress and be rewarded in some way for the good work.

Think that would be a great app that veterans will need. A lot of them are suffering and new ways of giving treatment will be great for them. I would definitely use a management app if I had suffered and it's an easy way to get help without being with someone.

I think this idea would be somewhat effective, given that the user actually put the time and effort into using it. I feel that would be the difficult part.

My gut reaction is yes, but it would depend on how many in the population pick it up and what the design of the app is like.

I'm not sure this would be very helpful. Some veterans may not be tech savvy, so may only help younger members. I suppose you could use something like this as a supplement to actual therapy where they are in the office in person, but you could track on the app and the therapist could help you.

Yes. Especially if it was easy to use and actually did motivate.

I think you would have a hard time with "buy in"

I think it would be a great way to document things for themselves.

This would not only be beneficial to the veteran population, but to all the population. Everyone should strive for individual growth, but it can be hard to stay on course with the trials of daily life, therefore, this app would be a guide to help people achieve personal development.

sounds like a good tool to get leverage against military personel

Mental illness is a bit more serious than that. Offering an App that could help manage tasks that could provide mental health benefits would be better, but "rewarding" someone seems childish when it comes to PTSD etc.

Yes, because incentives and rewards are always a good motivator for doing things like health and mental health exercises.

Yes. I think that would be a good idea. It would encourage veterans with their behavior and actions and help them to feel better about themselves.

Yes because veteran's often need this. They come home and they feel neglected and forgotten. I feel their pain even if they are not exactly in the same position as me, I am usually forgotten as well. This would help them be more positive and learn to stay above everyone else who might treat them with disrespect.

Great idea!! Good for the vets or people that need it.

Depending on the format and the incentives provided, I think that an app like this could very well be beneficial to the veteran population, which is at risk for many service-related mental and physical health issues. Depending on the health issues relevant to the user, the app could include data such as pain levels/pain management tracking, vitals such as blood pressure and glucose monitoring, medication and appointment reminders, self-care behavior logging (such as exercise, meditation, massage therapy), symptom/wellness journaling, etc.

Yes I think any positive feedback would benefit anyone and be very helpful to especially to the veteran population. They need every bit of help they can get.

I would think it couldn't hurt. I would think the vast majority of veterans suffering with mental illness or look as they might be susceptible could use any encouragement available to them. As a whole, people feel better about themselves when rewarded for good behavior. If an app was geared specifically for veterans it may make them feel understood and accepted. Mental health is so stigmatized that it is frequently too far gone before people actually seek help or ar recognized. An app that could be used from the privacy of the users phone might help a veteran feel less stigmatized. Growth on an individual basis would be important so they wouldn't feel compared to another. I gave it 4 stars because I am concerned that it might prevent some from seeking needed help.

I do think that this is something that could certainly help certain individuals who are veterans, I do not feel like it really helps with the older veteran population. Me personally, I would like something like this. Really, what veterans need is better access to quality healthcare and costs that are reasonable and not ridiculously overpriced.

Winning Option: Characteristics and Appeal

  • Option B emerged as the preferred brand packaging design, securing 12 out of 15 votes. Respondents frequently highlighted its aesthetic appeal, emphasizing the luxurious and high-quality impression it conveys. The ability to stack packages was a notable practical advantage mentioned by participants.
  • Several respondents appreciated the monochrome color scheme of Option B, which they found less overwhelming compared to more colorful designs. This preference for simplicity suggests that minimalistic designs may resonate well with this group.
  • Additionally, environmental considerations played a role in favoring Option B; some participants noted its reduced plastic usage and recyclability as attractive features.

Key Topics Across Options

  1. Aesthetic Appeal: Across both options, aesthetics were crucial in influencing preferences. Participants often referred to colors and overall design quality when justifying their choices.

  2. Environmental Concerns: Both options had respondents who valued environmentally friendly aspects of packaging. However, while Option A was praised for being reusable and eco-friendly by some, others perceived Option B’s reduced plastic use as more sustainable.

  3. Practicality: Practical elements such as ease of stacking (Option B) or suitability for travel (Option B) were significant factors in decision-making processes.

Hypotheses for Further Testing

  • Investigate whether minimalistic designs consistently outperform colorful ones across different demographic groups or product categories.

  • Explore if environmental messaging on packaging significantly influences consumer preference when compared with other attributes like luxury perception or practicality.

  • Assess how important stacking capability is relative to other functional benefits in various contexts such as home storage versus travel convenience.

These hypotheses can guide further research into understanding deeper consumer motivations behind packaging preferences observed in this survey context.
