Getting to see the detailed top of it and the nice overall design was very appealing to me.

A

I'm not sure what those stars are supposed to do, but I'm interested enough to want to find out more.

A

A because the small stars on top of the cop intrigues me and I would want to know more.

A

I think the stars inside are kind of interesting.

A

I would be more likely to click on and ultimately purchase option A because I think that it has a more interesting, eye-catching, and visually appealing product image.

A

I like OPtion A with the added stars. It's a nice unique touch I've never seen before in a candle.

A

I would buy Option A because I would want to watch the stars melt with the candle.

A

i can see more of the product and it has more character

A

A is interesting and unique whereas B is very dull

A

I love the chubby little stars, they are cute. The vanilla plant is also very pleasing to look at.

A

The flame in B is obviously photoshopped and fake looking and that's offputting.

A

The little stars and the soft flower caught my eye. Very dainty and delicate.

A

I prefer A because it's a more clear and complete view of the candle.

A

The flower in the corner would most likely grab my attention if I were looking for something like this.

A

I like the stars inside it, I like knowing what the wick and wax looks like as well.

A

I like the container of option A better for it appears to not be as full which is good in helping to stop wax overflow.

A

I chose option A because of how much more decorative it is. The stars inside the wax are an amazing touch and I don't really believe in vegan products

A

I like option A because I like the stars on top of the candle. I would click on this to buy or learn more.

A

A gives me a better view of the product, I also like Soy Wax Candle in the larger print.

A

I love the look of the candle. I like being able to see the little stars within it

A

Choice A is the one I would click on because I like how it shows me what the inside of the candle looks like. I like being able to see it.

A

I love the star-shaped wax in Option A. They may not change the scent of the candle, but they look adorable and add a fun element.

A

Definitely Option A. Vanilla isn't a favorite of mine but the colored stars make Option A look interesting, very unique.

A

I like option A the best because the vanilla flower in the image stands out the most to me and grabs my attention.

A

The shape is more original and B looks like a battery operated fire, not natural.

A

Image A (the candle picture that is at a slight tilt or angle) because it shows better detail.

A

Option A actually shows me the candle, plus the shape of it looks really unique and interesting, making me more likely to want to try it.

A

I think this one is more fun with the stars on the top and I also think the base is cleaner and looks better.

A

i like seeing more of the product like being able to see inside the top

A

A because it is more visually pleasing to me and the details are more clear as compared to choice B.

A

I thought the little stars are cute.

Option B is better as there is less shadow on the product and it is a better angle when compared to A.

B

I picked option B because I do not like the textured star candles added to A.

B

B looks classic and like it will smell good. A is far too complicated; I'm not sure why it has the stars inside the wax chamber and they look dreadful.

B

they are both vanilla candles so it does not matter to me really what one i pick. i would assume that they would both smell the same

B

I love option B more because the branding look more luxurious and the picture doesn't felt too dark compared to option A.

B

The other one looks fancy and nice, but I don't see the value in it. The special design can't really be seen and I don't think it is all that special anyway.

B

I chose B because it is something I am familiar with.

B

I much prefer Option B because it`s vegan plant based, because its design is simple and elegant and it clearly states long burning time.

B

I chose B because I felt that I was able to get a better feel of the product and what it would be like to use. I felt that I was able to imagine what it smelled like and felt that it was higher quality.

B

I think the star shapes add a nice touch but I don't feel it will burn the wax properly. So, B is the best option.

B

I like the stars but once it melts they'll be gone, so I chose B

B

B because it is vegan, B also presents the candle in a nice way. It makes it look like a more premium .

B

I like how option B appeals to me and looks like a product I would buy. Plus I love vanilla.

B

The outside label is more visually appealing to me than the other option.

B

A is just a very awkward angle that does not really show off the candle well.

B

B because I like the design on the candle more.

B

I like that it appears that the container on B is see through more than a. The light of the candle can be seen, even if it's burned lower which is an advantage, and kind of the point with the candle light. I fear A would hide the light when it gets lower down.

B

I like the plant based idea of this candle, and seems to have a very long burn time. I also like the branding of the candle better than A.

B

the flame of option B just catches my attention more than option A.

Respondents frequently highlighted its aesthetic appeal, emphasizing the luxurious and high-quality impression it conveys. The ability to stack packages was a notable practical advantage mentioned by participants.
  • Several respondents appreciated the monochrome color scheme of Option B, which they found less overwhelming compared to more colorful designs. This preference for simplicity suggests that minimalistic designs may resonate well with this group.
  • Additionally, environmental considerations played a role in favoring Option B; some participants noted its reduced plastic usage and recyclability as attractive features.

Key Topics Across Options

  1. Aesthetic Appeal: Across both options, aesthetics were crucial in influencing preferences. Participants often referred to colors and overall design quality when justifying their choices.

  2. Environmental Concerns: Both options had respondents who valued environmentally friendly aspects of packaging. However, while Option A was praised for being reusable and eco-friendly by some, others perceived Option B’s reduced plastic use as more sustainable.

  3. Practicality: Practical elements such as ease of stacking (Option B) or suitability for travel (Option B) were significant factors in decision-making processes.

Hypotheses for Further Testing

  • Investigate whether minimalistic designs consistently outperform colorful ones across different demographic groups or product categories.

  • Explore if environmental messaging on packaging significantly influences consumer preference when compared with other attributes like luxury perception or practicality.
