I chose Choice A simply because it places the product to the left of the box. Since Americans read from left to right, it makes the product stand out better and makes one assume that the product is what comes in the box.

A

the first one is full display

A

I think A is the more appealing product photo. I like that the side of the packaging box (w. various product attributes) is shown and can be read, while it is blocked by the bottle in B.

A

I feel as though I can see the bottle better with it on the left. I also think the lighting is a light brighter and makes the bottle easier to read.

A

A is much better because the bottle is to the left of the box image and you can see the side label clearer.

A

I would choose A. I like that the elderberry bottle is on the left.

A

Putting the box on the right looks more professional to me, at least to my Western eyes.

A

I prefer A because in B some of the words are nearly blocked by the adjacent object

A

my eye foloows the image more naturally with the box on the right, it looks right and more symmetrical

A

I like choice A because it doesn't cover up the important parts of the packaging label.

A

I think A is more appealing. I like the bottle being on the left, as for whatever reason, it makes image as a whole seem more balanced and it has a better visual flow. It also doesn't block the side label on the box.

A

A looks a little more balanced and attractive, and the layout allows me to read all of the information on the side of the box a little more easily.

A

I think the product looks much more natural to the left of the product box. When I looked at the image, my first glance was to the left , so I think it is important to see the actual product on the left.

A

I think that A is more appealing because it allows the viewer to notice the bottle first before they notice the box. That way their attention is drawn to the contents of the product, which is the organic elderberry liquid. It made me pay more attention to the fact that it was organic, and in a glass bottle, which are both nice features.

A

I like option A the best because I can read the side of the box more easily due to the bottle being located to the left of the box.

A

this version looks much more appealing to me

A

The product itself should be more prominent than the package/box.

A

I like seeing the bottle on the left side of the frame, because that's the main part of the product and that's where the eye is drawn first. Very cool for sure!

A

Most people tend to left to right when looking at pictures and books, so A does a better job and making the bottle the main focus of the picture.

A

I chose panel A. As I learned many years ago in typing class I am left eyed. I see the bottle on my left of the box.

A

I have a hard time explaining why, but option b looks backwards, like I'm looking in a mirror. I prefer the straightforward view of A.

A

I prefer this option because I feel like it gives a clearer view to both wording on the packaging as well as the bottle itself.

A

The only difference between the two options is the location of the box and the bottle. I just made my choice because I like the location of the bottle and the box. I think the layout in the image is something that I like.

A

I can't explain it but it looks a lot better with the bottle on the left of the box. Call it a gut feeling. Sorry, I can't explain it any other way.

A

I feel like left to right, you want to see the product first, then find out more about it through its box

A

In option a my eyes go right to the bottle instead of just to the packaging like they do in option b

A

I believe showing more of the box in the product image will be more appealing because the box looks nice.

A

They are very similar , but this one appeals to me more. Maybe it has to do with the other picture covers up part of the box.

A

For some reason I'm drawn to the actual product being on the left and the box on the right. I think it melds the two as one entity.

A

When magnifying the picture, the side panel is easier to read with option A. The other option B is hard to read.

A

I like option A better because having the bottle on the left side, allows you to see the box better.

A

Easier to read the side information.

B

The 2 options are extremely similar however I like where the container and the bottle are placed in option B more than option A and as a result it is my superior choice.

B

It looks a bit hidden in A. B has a much better picture of the bottle on that side.

B

Image B looks most appealing.

B

These two images of the products might actually be exactly the same so I just chose one. Both look good.

B

Would like to pick option B is the best which is attractive with box after bottle, great display , easy to click on

B

Quite frankly, either choice would be ok. I really don't see the difference between the two.

B

I can't really explain why but having the bottle to the right of the box just..feel right

B

I think this one has less of a glare and it is easier to read.

B

For some reason, having the bottle on the right side of the screen was easier on my eyes.

B

I like the bottle on the right better. It looks nicer next to the bottle.

B

The image of B is more appealing.

B

The colors pop a bit more but otherwise they're the same

B

in choice B the bottle is more prominent. You are drawn to the bottle which is the main focus of the item anyway. For some reason , it looks visually larger even though they seem to be the same size.

B

I think B is more appealing because the placement of the product is better. I think you can see the product much better than in A and that it looks more professional.

B

virtually the same, but i like when the packaging is shown on the left

B

I like the bottle on the right of the box

B

Usually the box is at the left.

B

The bottle on the right does not obstruct or detract from the verbiage on the front of the box / packaging. Having the package first, allows me to naturally view the box then the box contents via the bottle (eyes looking from left to right) in a natural motion.

Survey Analysis

Winning Option: Characteristics and Appeal

  • Option B emerged as the preferred brand packaging design, securing 12 out of 15 votes. Respondents frequently highlighted its aesthetic appeal, emphasizing the luxurious and high-quality impression it conveys. The ability to stack packages was a notable practical advantage mentioned by participants.
  • Several respondents appreciated the monochrome color scheme of Option B, which they found less overwhelming compared to more colorful designs. This preference for simplicity suggests that minimalistic designs may resonate well with this group.
  • Additionally, environmental considerations played a role in favoring Option B; some participants noted its reduced plastic usage and recyclability as attractive features.

Key Topics Across Options

  1. Aesthetic Appeal: Across both options, aesthetics were crucial in influencing preferences. Participants often referred to colors and overall design quality when justifying their choices.

  2. Environmental Concerns: Both options had respondents who valued environmentally friendly aspects of packaging. However, while Option A was praised for being reusable and eco-friendly by some, others perceived Option B’s reduced plastic use as more sustainable.

  3. Practicality: Practical elements such as ease of stacking (Option B) or suitability for travel (Option B) were significant factors in decision-making processes.

Hypotheses for Further Testing

  • Investigate whether minimalistic designs consistently outperform colorful ones across different demographic groups or product categories.

  • Explore if environmental messaging on packaging significantly influences consumer preference when compared with other attributes like luxury perception or practicality.

  • Assess how important stacking capability is relative to other functional benefits in various contexts such as home storage versus travel convenience.

These hypotheses can guide further research into understanding deeper consumer motivations behind packaging preferences observed in this survey context.
