How to test sets of images using collages

Use a collage to test sets of images against each other or get feedback on a stack of images

Updated over a month ago

Use Image Sets to compare up to nine images per option; fall back to collages only when a single combined image is required.

When to use / prerequisites

  • Use Image Sets for any test that needs 2-9 images per option; they are included with all plans and supported on most poll types.

  • Switch to a collage only when respondents must evaluate a single composed layout (for example, a magazine spread or packaging flat).

  • Prepare high-quality images at least 500 px wide with consistent aspect ratios so the experience feels smooth on desktop and mobile.

Steps

  1. Start a new poll, choose your question type (Head-to-Head, Single Select, Ranked, etc.), and confirm Image Sets is available for that format.

  2. Click Image Set for each option, upload 2-9 images (or import an Amazon ASIN), drag to reorder, and choose vertical or horizontal layout.

  3. Preview the respondent view, verify navigation arrows and zoom controls, then launch your poll or save it as a draft.

Image Sets work with all poll types except Click Tests. Choose another format if you require heatmaps.

Need a collage instead?

  • Use Canva, Photoshop, or Figma to arrange images on one canvas no wider than 1600 px.

  • Keep spacing and proportions consistent and add clear labels (A, B, C) within the artwork if needed.

  • Export at 1200 px wide or larger so respondents can zoom in without losing clarity.

  • Upload the collage as a single image option in your poll and preview before launch.

Troubleshooting / FAQs

How do I decide between an Image Set and a collage?

Use Image Sets whenever you can upload the individual images—respondents get cleaner navigation and you save design time. Choose a collage only when the combined layout itself needs feedback.

Can I mix Image Sets and single images in one poll?

Yes. Add Image Sets for the options that require multiple images and keep other options as single images; respondents can compare them side-by-side.

How many images can I include per Image Set?

You can upload between 2 and 9 images (1 main + up to 8 supporting). If you only have one image, switch to the standard image option type.

Will Image Sets change my poll pricing?

No. Image Sets are included in the standard poll pricing with no additional fees.
