Playbooks are step-by-step research guides that walk you through a series of polls designed for a specific use case. Find them in the Playbooks tab on your dashboard, select one, and follow the guided steps — each step generates a pre-configured poll you can customize and launch.
What is a playbook?
A playbook is a structured research workflow with multiple sequential polls. Each playbook is designed for a specific use case — like optimizing your Amazon listing or testing ad creative — and guides you through the right tests in the right order.
Each step in a playbook includes a recommended poll type, question structure, and audience configuration. The goal is to help you run more comprehensive research without having to design each poll from scratch.
How to start a playbook
From your dashboard, click the Playbooks tab.
Browse the available playbooks and select one that matches your research goal.
The playbook opens a new PickFu project with all the steps listed out.
You can also request a new playbook if you have a use case in mind.
How playbooks work
When you select a playbook, it creates a project with a sequence of steps. Each step includes a description of what you're testing and why it matters in the research process.
Click the link in each step to automatically generate a pre-configured poll draft. From there, customize the poll — upload your images or options, tweak the question if needed — and launch it.
Complete the steps in order for the best results. Each step builds on what you learned in the previous one, so the sequence is designed to progressively sharpen your research insights.
When to use a playbook vs. building individual polls
Use a playbook when: You want a structured, multi-step research strategy for a specific goal — not just a single test. Playbooks are especially helpful if you're new to consumer research or want a proven methodology.
Build individual polls when: You know exactly what you want to test and don't need guided steps. Individual polls give you full control for one-off research questions.

Do I have to complete all steps in a playbook?
No. You can skip steps or stop after getting the insights you need. The steps are recommendations, not requirements.
Can I customize the polls generated by a playbook?
Yes. Each step generates a poll draft that you can fully edit before launching — change the question, swap out options, adjust targeting, or modify any other setting.
Are playbooks available on all plans?
Playbooks are available to all PickFu users. Browse what's available in the Playbooks tab on your dashboard.
