Use Image Sets to compare up to nine images per option in a single survey. Fall back to collages only when respondents need to evaluate a single composed layout.

When to use Image Sets vs. collages

  • Use Image Sets for any test that needs multiple images per option (up to 9). They’re included with all plans and supported on most question types.
  • Use a collage only when respondents must evaluate a single composed layout — like a magazine spread or packaging flat.
  • Prepare high-quality images at least 800 px wide with consistent aspect ratios so the experience feels smooth on desktop and mobile.

How to set up Image Sets

  1. Start a new survey in the survey builder, choose your question type (Head-to-Head, Single Select, Ranked, etc.), and confirm Image Sets is available for that format.
  2. Choose the Image set option type and add a set for each option — upload up to 9 images (or import an Amazon ASIN), drag to reorder, and pick an Amazon image stack (Vertical) or Amazon image stack (Horizontal) layout.
  3. Preview the respondent view, verify navigation arrows and zoom controls, then launch your survey or save it as a draft.
Image Sets work with most question types — they are not available on Click Tests, 5-Second Tests, or Likert scale questions. For the full Image Sets workflow, see Testing Image Sets with PickFu.

Need a collage instead?

  • Use Canva, Photoshop, or Figma to arrange images on one canvas no wider than 1,600 px.
  • Keep spacing and proportions consistent. Add clear labels (A, B, C) within the artwork if needed.
  • Export at 1,200 px wide or larger so respondents can zoom in without losing clarity.
  • Upload the collage as a single image option in your survey and preview before launch.

FAQs

How do I decide between an Image Set and a collage?

Use Image Sets whenever you can upload the individual images — respondents get cleaner navigation and you save design time. Choose a collage only when the combined layout itself needs feedback.

Can I mix Image Sets and single images in one survey?

Not within the same question — all options in a question share one option type, so image sets replace single images for every option. You can still mix them across a multi-question survey: make one question an Image Set question and another a single-image question.

How many images can I include per Image Set?

You can upload up to 9 images per option. If you only have one image, use the standard image option type instead.

Will Image Sets change my survey pricing?

No. Image Sets are included in standard survey pricing with no additional fees.
