When your medical appointment (i.e. dentist, eye, annual physical, therapy, and others) is delayed, what events occur as a result?
50 Responses
I need to reschedule my later commitments.
I usually reschedule the appointment
I have to rescedule with both the office and with my work to get a new appointment time.
I have to figure out when I can reschedule it to where I can have time off of work to go.
I become anxious knowing that the care I need is not timely. This has a negative impact on my emotional well being.
I have trouble getting prescriptions refilled without 1st being physically examined, so I have to cut back on medications in order to make them last until after I have seen my primary care physician. I end up with severe pain in the meantime, and spasticity along with insomnia.
When a medical appointment is delayed it would possibly alter a schedule set for the day as it would need to be rescheduled, potentially causing one to miss a day of work, which would result in a loss of pay for the day.
I have to rebook a new appointment or maybe go somewhere else.
I n most cases what causes the delay is when I have abrupt travelling for some business meetings or I have a family event or a church function where am ministering.
it throws my week and my schedule out of whack, and depending on if there are prescriptions involved, even more out of whack
My day gets rescheduled and it is inconvenient.
I would have to reschedule if it's delayed more than an hour or so, and I'm missing work to go. Otherwise, I'm just extremely annoyed, and would probably complain or request a discount off my bill.
Nothing really happens besides rescheduling it or canceling it if it is not urgent. If it was an urgent or emergency situation, I would seek out another provider who could see me when needed. I have no had any other events occur and I can't recall others describing anything specific.
If I have a medical appointment that gets delayed I think I just reschedule the appointment.
If an appointment gets delayed then other events that I had planned for that day usually get delayed or cancelled as well.
The medical issues I may have will get worse
My back is killing me after sitting for long periods. I have to get up and walk or stand. They never apologize. Yet if YOU are late they will cancel your appointment. It’s ridiculous.
It is just simply annoying when your physical therapy or medical appointment is delayed.
Some events that may occur: I have to reschedule, I run out of contact lenses, I feel worse than I would have if I made it to the appointment, I feel stressed, I feel annoyed.
I'm not sure that I understand the question? I suppose that would depend on HOW delayed and what the appointment is for. If it isn't urgent, no problem -- I'll just wait and/or reschedule as needed. If it's more pressing, I might feel anxious. If it's an appointment I've actually arrived for and they're running behind, as long as I'm kept updated I'd be fine with it -- but if I was just left sitting there waiting for very long with no communication, I'd probably feel annoyed (but wouldn't leave or anything).
When my appointments are delayed I am often unable to reschedule for awhile if it is the fault of the doctor. If it is my fault or I have to wait awhile, I often suffer from adverse affects in the meantime. Sometimes I will look for a different provider if possible because it is better taking a chance than waiting too long to take care of more serious issues.
when appointments are delayed the events that follow are stress and worry. the result is trying to fit everything in meanwhile waiting and wondering when. it causes anxiety and unrest.
I am semi retired and it is basically no big deal if it is temporarily cancelled . I don't like to have to wait , but sometimes doctors can't make their appointments on time .
I will reschedule and show up at the next session.
There can be anxiety in getting it rescheduled. Also, it can be an inconvenience.
I have to go without services and that could possibly harm my body.
Whatever issue I'm having may get worse because I didn't get treatment for it.
Usually having to cram it into another time that will cause me to shuffle around other things. It usually is a hassle that i dont want to deal with.
I get annoyed because I have to reschedule it, screwing up a future date, and the time I took off from work to accommodate this appointment is an inconvenience of no benefit to anyone now, even to me.
I feel like I am not getting my health prioritized, I feel like I cannot wait for the delay to finish up.
When I have a medical appointment that gets delayed, I feel annoyed that I have to make a new appointment. Sometimes the next available appointment that fits my schedule won't be able to happen for a few weeks out which makes me even more annoyed, especially if it's for something that needs attention right away like medication refills, etc. Thus I may have trouble getting a refill in time and I could possibly run low or out of my medication.
My medical appointment was delayed due to a shortage of physicians and an increase in the number of people with health insurance.
I get stressed and nervous! and then I get irritated as a result of all that, as well.
If it’s delayed, I’ll wait about an hour and then I’d leave.
The staff apologize and I just have to wait a little longer.
It usually means my appointment is a bit more rushed, because the medical professional is trying to catch up. It also throws off my subsequent plans for the day.
I usually am left with a bit of free time that I need to fill, and then I usually end up having to reschedule.
I might have to cancel if a certain event needs to be attened.
What occurs is a loss of time and money on my side because of the time I planned off to accommodate the doctors.
honestly it depends on how long rhe delay is, the longer the delay the more money i probably spend trying to fix the problem myself
Whenever I make a medical appointment, I have to rearrange my schedule and take time away from working and other responsibilities. Thus, if my appointment is delayed, I have to take yet more time off in the future. This can be very disruptive and stressful. If I am very sick and need medicine, it is also bad for my health..
adjusting different time off work, if dentist is every 6 months and not 2 times a year it is difficult to schedule at the end of the year.
My schedule has to change, I have to rearrange different days around, time off, it ads stress.
It could be literally anything, late for work, late for picking up other people, not being able to keep the appointment, its a complete delay of the rest of what you had planned for the day
I hsve to reschedule my other activities to accomodate the cgange. IT is annoying.
I have to miss more work than I anticipated and I'm paid hourly so I lose out on money.
If my appointment is delayed I usually need to call work and tell them I won't be coming in at the time I originally said, it's a big inconvenience.
I usually have to delay a vacation when it happens because I want to make sure I am in good health before I go.
When the appointment is delayed, I generally try to schedule a different day for an appointment, or I see if there's time later on the same day of the appointment that I can show up. If for whatever reason I'm unable to schedule a new appointment the day the appointment is delayed or I can't go later during the day, what happens then is that I ask whichever business or medical provider I made an appointment with what my recourse is. Meaning I ask their customer service or the equivalent what I can do within my power to ensure that I eventually have an appointment in the future. Every business is different and so that means that the process is different for what I need to do in order to schedule a new appointment, and so communication is really crucial for ensuring that I have my questions answered and that I follow the steps of the process. Ultimately the events that occur as a result are context dependent. The events change depending on the different processes that exist, and I adapt to the situation as needed by using my intelligence and reason to find answers to my questions and to schedule an appointment at such a time that it won't be delayed.
If there is a delay with medical appointment a number of things can take its place. There are always incidental errands to do and small tasks to accomplish. Secondly, The newly acquired time would be great to meet someone for lunch... spouse or friends. Third, if the appointment is outright cancelled, go back to work and save that time for another appointment. Lastly, take is a longer lunch for yourself and bask in the small window of "me" time you have since the appointment freed up some alone time for you.
