My perception is that the textured outside is a bit more durable than the smooth.

I chose this one for one very simple reason. The smooth cable would be easier to keep clean. Once dirt and dust gets into the braided part of the other one? You're never getting that out, no matter what you do.

I choose B, because a smooth cable is what I'm used to. Don't think I've ever had one that came textured and don't know what the purpose would be. Better grip possibly?

Unless the texture jacket has any sort of benefits that the smooth jacket does not have, I feel like the smooth jacket is just really odd and would feel off. I’m used to a smooth jacket. If I saw the texture jacket, I would think it would be for a special purpose that I would not need so I wouldn’t even consider it.
