It actually looks like some thought went into it (A).
I like A because it's mysterious and intriguing. This also doesn't give away what I assume are key plot points. This is a solid book that intrigues me to read the novel itself.
Other one looks very cheap and generic, this one is a bit artistic.
i feel A is more unique in the art and gives you a sense of what the story is going to be about how is has a female and a person who may be a stalker.
A looks more interesting and trustworthy. B looks poorly photoshopped.
I prefer Option A because I like the look on the characters face. It seems to be really suspenseful and like it will be a great exciting mystery filled with twist and turns. Option B looks confusing.
Choice A looks more mysterious. I think the images in B look like they have been photoshopped and are oddly placed. Choice A adds some intrigue and would allow you to still use your imagination for the characters.
A has some interest with the human faces. B looks like clip art and is amateurish.
Choice A effectively conveys the shades and darkness referenced in the title. Choice B, in addition to looking like clip-art, does not conceptually match the book title. The banner at the top of B is nice though, and should be added to A as well.
A has a greater sense of impending doom for the woman. The artistic presentation could be better. B has two simple images that do not correspond with each other.
The book has a very ominous cover befitting the title, it is captivating and very catchy.
I like the painting style of choice a. Choice b looks too generic. I feel like I’ve seen 1000 book covers like that before. I do wish the painting in a showed a little more contrast between light and dark colors to correspond to the book title
I don't really love either cover, but "A" looks more like it would appeal to female readers, and "B" looks more like it would appeal to male readers. Also "B" looks violent.
The water color style looks more interesting and classier than B. It looks like someone put some time and effort into it. B looks cheesy and like someone just photoshopped two images together really quickly to beat a deadline. It looks like a cheap mass paperback on Amazon.
Option A because the cover is much more interesting
B looks more like it will be in the bargain bin or at the dollar store. So many books are black with a red strip at the top. The giant phone and tiny explosive made me laugh, it looks like something a high school student would make ten minutes before it was due. The painting style will not be for everyone, but at least the book will be more unique instead of blending in with so many others.
It just looks way cooler and unique. The other one looks super generic
Cover A seems to give more of a sense of story. It has a strong color narrative that tells me where my eye should be on the cover and has a sense of movement. It also makes the mystery feel more urgent and causes me to have more questions about who/what is presented in the novel. Alternately, cover B looks poorly put together and cheaply made. I would believe Cover A was a more expensive choice signifying a higher quality novel.
A has a drawing of a woman who looks very scared. The man in the background looks mysterious. The mountains and other background look intriguing. This looks like it would be a much more interesting read than "B". (Yes, I know they are both the same book, but I would choose A for thoe reasons). The map on the cellphone and the dynamite just don't do it for me - I don't think I'd be as interested.
I liked both cover choices, but ultimately chose A because the style of the cover (painting, artwork) seemed to match the book’s title best (shades, light, darkness).
It has a cool, classic painted art style that I can really appreciate.
Option a is a lot prettier and more pleasant than Option B.
I prefer the artwork. Option A looks like a mid-level computer graphic that someone put together at home.
I feel the painted art makes the item stand out a little bit, especially as the alternative appears to be kind of stock items for the cover and just doesn't look very good.
The painted illustration of the paranoid looking women seems like an entertaining thriller to read
I think I like this style very much.
Option B screams self-published book, which calls into question the quality of the writing and editing. I also tend to be turned off by a mention of an unknown series on the cover, particularly if I haven't read anything from the author previously. Option A is artsy and unique. It makes me curious about the book.

Option A is too ridiculously artsy. I like simpler covers.
The phone and dynamite makes me think of mystery and murder, which is my choice of genre when I pick out books. Nothing good can come from dynamite. It looks like a more interesting read.
I like the dynamite the best on the book
This book cover is far less disturbing to me. The other one makes me think that the man on the cover is going to to something really horrible to the woman on the cover, and I don't really want to read about that.
I like option b. Option A kooks like Worthington the 80s on the cover and option A at least has a new cell phone with Google maps on it. I haven't ever seen a cover that looks like that and tenths truth,I have not read a modern day thriller with cell phones involved. I am.kind of intriqued. I have been multithreading Diana Galbadon stuff, over and over and her stuff is Scottish and American revolution. I would pick up and look at option B and I like the clean and crisp lettering.
Both these covers are good. A has some great artwork. I picked B because the title and author's name are larger, the phone with the map is intriguing and the dynamite gives a bit of a clue to the contents.
I’m a fan of the mystery genre so seeing that the book is labeled a mystery makes it instantly more compelling to me. The image is another hook for me - the map on the smart phone is also intriguing making me wonder where the map locations are and why is there dynamite with the fuse lit?
B is more engaging and caught my attention faster.
As a man B was the obvious choice. If I was into romance, I may have went for A as that cover is so generic I'd think romance story looking at it. In this case it all depends on the target audience.
That's a really bad, amateurish drawing on A. It makes me wary of the quality of the book overall. B also hints at a more exciting storyline than A does, something with travel and bombs.
I find the cover of Book B more intriguing. I know they say not to judge a book by it's cover but honestly, the first thing I do is look at the cover before I read the summary. The first cover is more, oh my goodness, I'm frightened. The second cover is more, oh my goodness, something bad has happened and I want to find out what happened.
That painting is one of the worst things I've ever seen. If you paid me I wouldn't keep it in my house.
The text of Option B provides more details about what the content of the book could be about. It clearly places it among other mystery books in the series. The author's name is also in a very interesting and fantastical text. I don't mind the sticks of dynamite but the phone screen and map appears way too futuristic for the mood set by the text and background. it also does not help with identifying where this book takes place due to the lack of depth to the map - no lake names or regions/countries.
I cant help but judge a book by its cover and the one with the people looks amateur. I feel like the book would be as well.
I really didn't like either cover, but the one with the scared woman really turned me off. I also don't like the liquid look of the artwork. The map doesn't do much for me, but I like the dynamite. I also like the crisp clear lines. It makes me feel like the author is in control and is going to tell me a crisp clear story.
A seems like a damsel in distress. which doesn't appeal to me. B is more like a police procedural, more gender neutral.
The phone and bomb creates a mental image that is far more effective at getting my attention than the other cover, which looks generic and uninteresting.
Option B because it's a bit more mysterious.
My choice is B because the cover of B tell more about the book and that's very Important when he or she doesn't have much time to review the book. I like books with colorful graphics on the cover. Most of the time it takes my most interest attention.
The book cover B makes the book look more adventurous and probably a thriller. The smart phone means it takes place more recently and the dynamite implies danger. Book Cover A looks like the book might be more of a romance.
I think the objects portrayed on the cover of B, dynamite and a cell phone, are more interesting and intriguing than the images of faces in A
I like option B better than option A because of the dynamite & map on the cell phone it looks like a modern action packed mystery I would enjoy reading.
option B looks action packed, i love the use of technology in the picture. that covers hooks me from the start. i dont know what option A is about just by glancing at it. I dont get the impression it is a mystery it look more like historical romance would pass on it
