Which book description do you prefer?
55 Responses to Option A
I find the other description to be too long and focusing many times on uninteresting details and then ending on some generic sales line
I prefer A because it's more concise and easier to digest, while still telling me everything I need to know about this book.
I prefer option A because it leaves more suspense in the despcription and makes me want to buy it more.
I like some parts of B like the brief segue of describing what the book would be about in pop culture terms but I honestly think it's too long for a summary. So I'd prefer A here in this case as it sells the book well without it being too short.
I really don’t like the beginning of option A with the whole “ready for a blah blah blah”. I prefer option A that launches straight into the description of the book.
I like option A as it does not give away too much and seems more to the point.
The other one is way too long. This option s more concise and will be more attractive to read.
I would choose option A because I prefer the shorter description and the way it was worded without trying too much to make it stand out, it explained just enough to keep readers interested and wondering without over explaining too much about the story.
Option B is a little bit too long.
Option A, caught my attention with the last line. It had me intrigued.
B feels too pandering and wordy while spoiling too much of the story.
I prefer the description in A. B's, while information, is a bit too long for the kind of brief overview these kinds of things should be. And at least some of this white space is used up by comparisons and other statements that'd don't really speak about the book itself. Namely the first and last ones. I'd rather hear about the book and not what the book is 'kind of like', I can make that judgement for myself and prefer to.
I thought that Option A was a lot quicker and to the point when comparing the two potential options. I love the sound of the text in general. I would be really excited to read this piece. The text flows really well together and the story sounds fun and exciting.
It’s clear , cut and to the point. It leaves you off with a great question. Which makes sense because with a book like this you don’t want to go into to much detail and you want to give just enough but not to give it away. The first one had way to many words and details.
A because it tells me just enough of the story without giving too much information or being needlessly long.
A makes me want to know more, B doesnt need to tell you what it is going to be, i feel the reader should get pushed into the setting and find out, i feel if you have to say it then it is not that established, i do like how it fleshes it out a bit more but the overall vibe brings it down.
B is way too long and gives away too many details, I need just enough on the description to draw me in, let the details unfold in the book.
Gets the message across w/o being so wordy that I get bored and stop reading halfway through like option B
The other option is just a little too lengthy. This one is short, but it gets the point across and leaves you wanting to know more.
i like this option as it gives more of a short description that is really captivating and makes you more curious about what is going to happen. the other option is quite long and i struggled to read the whole of it as i had a hard time finding what would be interesting about the story.
B is too wordy and way too heavy on the comparisons to other authors and properties, which make a pretty original idea seem much less original. A is sleeker, easier to read, and more interesting, as well as letting the unique creativity of the subject matter shine through much more.
Option A - The book description is short and crisp, but instigating the reader to read the book in its entirety.
This description leaves more curiosity and does not give away too much making the reader want to find out more.
B is way too wordy and it pulls me out of the description with weird anecdotes and fourth wall "if you like this you'll like..." type writing, so I prefer A.
Its a pretty good synopsis of what the books about, the other just seems like its presented weird. I would prefer B if the first paragraph went missing.
OPtion B is shorter, and direct to the point. It is succinct and provides the right amount of information to get your attention
I like that the story is about a renegade/outlaw and him getting captured and what comes of that story line.
Although I do like the comparisons to other others to get a sense of what to expect, I like the shorter concise summary the best, leaving more to the imagination.
Firstly the second description is too long and the opening line compares itself to other stories, which doesn't make this story sound original the way the first description opens with narration.
While it is suspenseful, it also provides some hope, questions of justice being served. It is dark for the most part but hopefully there is some light that the right will prevail.
I like the description of a better . It draws my attention and makes me picture the story in my head and want to read more . It gives. Clear description of what is going on with teh main character.
Malfus past sounds like it is going to make a interesting story. i would love to read about the dventures and all of the activities he finds himself in the middle of. I would be interested in learning more about this. it sounds like it would make a good read for people of all ages and backgrounds alike and different to each one.
This description seems very enigmatic to me because it tells of a world besieged by monsters and the fight for liberation. It is the best choice to discover fascinating worlds, unforgettable characters and inspiring plots.
This choice was simple. A wins out because it's clearer and more to the point. B is way too wordy such that it couldn't even hold my attention.
I like A because it doesn't go overboard. It is easy to follow and clearly describes what the book will be about. In example B, too much colorful language is used. It is hard to understand.
I think that it should be brief if this is going to be the synopsis of the book.
I chose this one because it seemed like an interesting story with drama and a sci Fi side to it. And the character seems cool
Because its just enough info to get you hooked without giving away to juch information..i would rather discover things for my psekf instead of them in the book description..selection B has way too much info..i like A
honestly I have a short attention span. Choice A is eaiser to get into right away than choice B
I like a description that doesn't give too much away, but entices the consumer into the situation and lore within the book.
I prefer a shorter message about the book. The longer versions loose me.
It seemed more in line with what I would choose to read.
I choose this option because it gives a lot of details without taking it too far of the storyline. It says about his past, what is happening now and what needs to done in the future unlike the other option that just gives too much away
I chose A because the description, although shorter , was much more vivid and Painted a picture in my brain. Option B was boring and lost my attention about half way through. I am also not not a big fan of Alcoholic Army commanders. Also, Malfus sounds like a real Jerk
I enjoy action based books. This story will keep me on my toes
it reads well, quickly and nicely. I just prefer it over the other version. It also saves me time.
It's straight to the point & describes exactly what the book is going to be about
Option A is succinct and respectful of me as a reader. Option B is an immediate turn off with its disingenuous attempt at talking to me like a casual friend would.
This synopsis is much more concise and interesting than B which is WAY too wordy. I don't want to be bored when I'm reading the description of a book otherwise I won't read it!
I Like that that this description is shorter than the other one. I like it more. It sounds good to me too, I like this explanation and description .
It is shorter and to the point when you are reading a preview you do not want to have to read that much.
B is too wordy and uses too many clichés in the description.
Less is more when reading a report on a book. you just want to hear the gist, you don't want to hear the whole plot. It's better just to get the idea of what the book's about rather than told about the whole book.
I think discription B is descrived very well nut bit too long. Discription A is right amount length and discribed the story well enough to understand that what is the books is about.
It is a story I would prefer. I do not like Dongeons and Dragons so I would not want to read about that. I feel like raising the dead is something interesting and I’d like to see how it plays out.

B, D&D meets Quentin Tarantino makes for one compelling start to a book description and gets my full attention to want to learn more.
The picture B paints is much preferable to me. Right off the bat they're making comparisons to two franchises I enjoy, making me excited to learn more. As I read on they continue to mention franchises, authors, and more things I enjoy making me more and more interested to read the book. A did a good job of explaining the plot, but I feel B does a better job of selling it.
Option B probably gives the most realistic view of the what the writing will be like so it should be the write up used to let people know what they're getting into.
B is kind of long, maybe too long, but A is way too short. I think B could be trimmed down a little and it would be good, A doesn't give anywhere near enough detail to get into the story.
The summary itself is like a great summary of the plot. I like being able to read more so that I know what I am getting into. I also think that it doesn't give away too many details, just the main events
I love B, it caught my attention right away with the comparison to Tarantino and DnD, it sounds fun! It seems edited better too and flows much better too.
B is longer which should make you more interested in the book.
Option B is a much better description than option A. It gives the book way more personality and provides a better peek into what the book is all about. The story sounds much more exciting with the description in option B. I actually found myself bored with option A’s description and turned off of the book whereas option B had the opposite effect.
B i like the premise it sounds like something i would read and watch a movie or a tv show the story it is very compelling and intriguing i would check it out when i find it
I like this one better but would leave out the first and last paragraphs. I feel like you need to take another swing at this and tighten it up even more and it could be better
I like option B because it does a better job of painting the scene than option A does. Option B makes me want to read the book a lot more that the description written in option A.
Hands down Option B was the better description. By reading the synopsis, I am already invested in the story. I could see the story coming to life in my mind as I was reading the description. It is vivid, rich and enticing.
I would choose B because it makes the book sound more interesting.
I prefer B as I like the extra detail that B entails. This generally indicates a better written story in my opinion.
I think A is too short and uninspired, but B is a bit too long. I'd choose B out of the two, though.
Chose B because as a D&D fan the first sentence catches my eye.
the content has less punctuations and is easier to follow up.It uses a easy to follow flow of words which are easier to read out.
there is more information to tell me about the premise of the story line and I would be more likely to read it to the end
I chose B because it was more theatrical it made me feel excited to read the book. Where as choice A was short and to the point. Didn't give any type of drama.
Because it is a fantasy novel. How Mulfus Unchained himself and how he deal with magic system is interesting to know.
i like the story and the theme based on monsters and magic to transform a story into a fantasy land
The description provided in Option A is more concise and to the point. However, it's conciseness is also it's downfall. The Option B description is more engaging and more explicit about the contents of the book, without giving away any of the details. It asks relevant questions to tempt the reader to find the answers within it's pages. Definitely the sale pitch winner in this comparison is Option B.
I think the level of detail that is in this description makes it more enticing to read based on the story line.
Lots of twists and turns in the story. Plenty of action and mayhem to keep the reader guessing.
It has a more enticing way of telling the story and makes me interested in it more.
I obviously chose B as it is much more descriptive. It brought the book alive! It gave me much more detail and made me much more interested in the story than Option A.
I love the magical aspect of this, or has everything. Necromantic magic everything anyone whose interested in this kind of fantasy would want. What more can i say is magical exciting and different.
More details on the book. They described what's going on step by step an knowing he is doomed makes him more determined to get free. Thank God they run in to an army that is in need of his help to stay alive.
I like this because it is a much more detailed description with the monsters and magic.
I would definitely read this novel . Looks suspenseful dealing with generals and dungeons and dragons .
It gives more detail about the characters and their back story and how they fit into the story. It speaks more about his powers and the challenges he faces on using his powers.
I picked that one because it seems like it would be more appealing to me myself. It went it further details then the other description giving my mind more of an idea on what the book was actually about. I could picture the story in my head. The other one I was left not knowing exactly was such a small discriptiom I don't know of it would be worth my time
Much more descriptive and by telling it like a short story it draws you in and I want to know more about the story and the characters.
I like the in depth description about the plot, as well as the fact it lets me know that it’s a “grimdark” fantasy novel, so I know I’m not getting a fluff piece. The premise sounds very promising.
I have chosen option B as it is giving more detail about the book and very good with the description of what the book will be about. It almost just about gave a little to much information and didnt leave some information for the imagination. I love the creativeness of the writer and how the characters are protrayed. The book sounds like it would be of Sci-Fi genre and very intriguing to the reader. It woudl definitely attract the sci fi lover.
I enjoy a good and detail wording of an adventure I dont like it short and it keeps me enjoying the story and keeps me entertain for a longer period of time
Option B described so much more of the book, whereas option a does a quick summary.
Sounds exactly like the type of incredible adventure fantasy sci fi stories I like to read. This would definitely take someone to another world while reading this. I would love to read how this ends.
It seems like it a book that I would enjoy more than the other I like magical based movies and books more than most
I love the storyline of this book it describes as one man's journey to his freedom win lose or draw. With a lot of obstacles to get through
It looks like it will have a lot of twists and turns and will deal with fantasy elements. It has to deal with life and death issues.
This gives you a more in depth reason to read the book and see what choice Colonel Peshka makes to save his life and the life of his soldiers if he releases Malfus.
I like the longer version that describes the book since I am not familiar with the material
It has a better explanation of the content it holds. I like that he went in as a prisoner and now everyone is dependent on him to save them.
i enjoy reading this type of genre more it is normally more interesting. it is more detailed and exciting as you learn abou the different characters
