For those of you who own a Hiking Daypack (25-40 Liters), What are 5 things a Hiking Daypack must have in order for you to purchase it? What is something you wish your current Hiking Daypack had that it doesn't currently have?

Enough zipper pockets to keep things in the bag. The color of the bag counts, the weight matters. The material must be high quality. I want it to have vents.
It must have a water bottle holder, external pockets, a lot of padding, reflection tape, and adjustable straps. I could definitely use a product with a lot more padding.
I really want a hiking daypack to be lightweight, have a straw system, stay cold for a long time, be comfortable on my back, and look cool.
A water bottle holder. Pockets on the outside. Water resistant. Belt. Sturdy material.
Water resistant, Water bottle pouch, different compartments, cushioned and comfortable straps, durable and re-inforced bottom.
It must have comfortable straps, multiple spaces for bottles, special pouch for phone, large main area for things, many smaller compartments for delicate things.
The 5 things needed in a hiking backpack are many compartments and pockets, ability to carry multiple water bottles, light and easy to clean material/fabric, easy carry-on straps that does not chaffe and zippers that do not break easily. I wish my current daypack was made with a lighter material.
For the summer vocation we don't need more then winter that is why we should use for hot dress that can fit in this.
Pockets! Need separate pockets for shoes, water bottle, wet/dirty clothes, cooler section, tech.
I wish mine had little zippered pockets on the waist straps. I had a friend who also had small pockets on the shoulder straps, just enough for chapstick and a small sunscreen. My last hike I wore a small backpack on my front as well because I needed my guidebook all the time and there was no where to store it on the bag unless I wanted to take it off. Any solution to that would be heavenly - maybe something removable that clips to a shoulder strap? Maybe that would work for a phone as well - in this day and age, the phone is also the camera and often the map, so it needs to be thought of and have somewhere on the front of the bag for easy access. Also the bag needs to be extremely lightweight, have a small zippered interior pocket and a small zippered exterior pocket, and it should have an included rain cover stored in the base. Maybe make some of the front pockets removable, so it can be even more lightweight. Like I want them, but maybe I don't ALWAYS want them, or all of them.
I always look for additional compartments and storage on these packs, in addition to hydration. I wish my current pack had an abdomen wrap, which it currently doesn't have.
1) Shoulder and waist straps 2) water proof coating 3) easy access front pockets 4 ) durable fabric 5) very strong zippersI wish I could add a waterproof compartment for my phone.
It needs to have space, to be insulated, to be able to carry multiple beverages, needs to have dry spaces for things like cell phones and needs to be stylish.
I would like different waterproof compartments for things light a light change of clothes or food or cell phone.
It needs to be durable, have comfortable straps, be able to hold up to water/the elements, easy to clean, and I want it to be attractive. I wish my current one had more pouches for storage and organization.
A hiking daypack must have a large front pocket, many inner pockets to hold knickknacks, a water bottle holder, and be made of leakproof/waterproof material. I wish my hiking daypack now had extra storage space since it's too small.
i would need it to carry up to 15lbs, i would need a bottle holder, it would need netting to hold things on the sides, i would also like it to be of strong material.
My hiking daypack has to have ample storage, comfort on the straps, zippers that work, places to put a water bottle or 2, and the ability to go flat on my back without it hurting. I wish I had the ability to make it a temporary cooler (like insulation) so I can pack a lunch or snacks in it.
sturdy straps that are wide, does not make you all sweaty, easy to clean inside and out, wont get smelly, waterproof. daypacks come in many varieties, most do the job.
I would like it if the hiking day pack had a good grid so I could carry it in my hands. I would also want a hiking day pack to have a good string or lasso to connect it to my back pack easily. I would also want it to have some good markings to easily know how much volume I have left each time I look at it.
I would definitely need a bottle of water and some kind of snack like granola bars or trail mix. Another handy thing to have is a portable phone charger. I love taking photos while I hike so my camera and any camera accessories would need a spot too!
My Daypack must have a place for my water bottle, or a hydropack, multiple pockets, it must be easy to clean, have the correct padding for the straps so that it's easy to carry, and must be big enough for supplies. My current pack does not have a hydropack
mine already has everything i need so i am lacking. a good back must has a dedicated spot of water, hooks on everyside of the backpack, an insulated pouch for food and big spaces for oversized items
I really love backpacks with a lot of pockets to stay organized. One thing my backpack does not have is an inserted water bottle with a little straw I could sip on while the backpack is on me. I also like stylish stuff and I noticed I cannot find many hiking backpacks that are “cute”
For me to purchase, a hiking daypack, must have 1. limited compartments/dividers. I prefer a large, unobstructed space. 2. It must be made of water resistant material. 3. It must have adjustable shoulder straps. 4. I need very durable zippers. 5. I need one or two water bottle holders on the outside. My current pack does not have the water bottle holders and I will not buy one again that does not have this feature.
Be light weight. Keep water cool all day. Have a nice color. Easy to unlock. Do not leak
1. Comfortable padded shoulder straps2. Designed for weight distribution that minimizes back pain3. Durable construction4. An outer mesh pocket for a water bottle5. Available in a variety of colors and patternsMy current hiking backpack lacks a water bottle pocket.
place for your water, lots of pockets, maybe an emergency rope, maybe a place for your phone, lightweight materal
I have two of these, and I prefer the one that has straps that can be adjusted AND tucked away easily so they aren't flying everywhere or getting in the way as I hike. I like for them to be lightweight but still have room for snacks and rocks-I often pick up several pounds of rocks, so it also needs to be durable and easy to clean. It should have enough room to easily carry two water bottles or a hydration bladder particularly if there is room for one on the outside of the pack itself to secure the bladder with elastic cords. Comfortable straps is a must especially because I often hike in hotter areas, so I am often sleeveless and if the straps are uncomfortable or abrasive, I will not use it again. Finally, the composition of the fabric needs to be somehow breathable while still very durable. My current pack, though pretty durable, roomy, and has straps that stow easily, causes me to get really hot. It would be great if it had a built-in cooling pad.
I want a high quality water storage system, good padding, easy straps to adjust, good color, and dirt resistant material. I want a cheaper Hiking Daypack.
1. Lots of small internal (zip enclosed) compartments for storing small items.2. Water resistant material.3. Lightweight material.4. No obtrusive or large logo5. Straps that can wrap around and connect around your chest/waist.I wish my backpack had an area designated for water bottle storage
light weight. lots of pockets. waist straps. adjustable straps. price. I don't have the waist straps now.
food supply, water supply, lantern, sleeping bag, first aid
I would love to personally have more pockets so that I can stay organized with all the items that I am bringing along with me. Also would love to personally have a way to charge things wirelessly.
There's nothing my current day pack doesnt have that I would add to it. My top 5 features are. A camel back, adjustable waist strap, pockets on the shoulder straps, a soft but sturdy frame (no metal) and made of a breathable material.
Enough pockets, comfortable straps, straps to tie down larger objects, place for a water bottle, strong material.
1. Comfortable straps. I won't buy a Daypack that rubs my skin too much. 2. Multiple, smaller pockets, for my wallet, keys, sunscreen, etc. 3. A place for my water bottle, that is easily accessible. 4. Zippers that are easy to use, and don't get, "hung up." 5. Lightweight. I don't want to feel like I am lugging a bunch of stuff around, with me. It would be nice to have a pocket, that is insulated, so my water bottle, would stay cool, for a longer period of time.
The main thing a hiking bag should have is enough side pockets to be facilitate enough spaces to carry things, the other major factors is for it to be leak water proof which means incase of rain the bag will not leak water into it then the other option will be for it to be water proof which means incase there is a liquid which spills in the inside contents it will not be able to leak through the bag. The other factor is for the bag to have comfortable straps which will not be able to tire you when carrying the bag and the last option is for the bag to a bright color which reflects light during the day to avoid hear absorption and making it to be really hot. Something I would love to add to my current bag is to have a bag that is leak proof.
For a daypack I don't need anything special. A sturdy design and lightweight material are important. A couple side pockets for water bottles is nice. A water bladder is ok, but not necessary for me. I do prefer several containers so I can certain things separated.
It needs to be affordable, spacious, comfortable, stylish, and rugged. The biggest thing I want that my hiking daypack doesn't currently have is the ability to stack more gear on the exterior without it becoming unbalanced or uncomfortable.
It needs to have a cell phone compartment. I also like a place for a water bottle which mine does not have.
Internal framesheets, at least 3 liter water bag, adjustment straps, low weight (<2.5 lbs), and large main pocket. My current one doesn't have enough webbings or pockets for awkward sized items or wet clothing, so that's a nice thing to have.
Must be lightweight, easy to store and carry, ability to snap around your waist, room for water, and enough space to fit a camera.
A day pack must have water bottle, snack, first aid kit, GPS device, and bear spray
My bag must have hip belts and those that adjust which mine does. Mine also has side pockets for bottles along with adjustable features for chest and back. I wish mine had better side pockets to store my hiking poles.
1. A space for a camelbak bladder and somewhere fo hook the straw part so it doesn’t flop around. 2. Closed side pockets instead of mesh water bottle ones. 3. Ample storage but not too many little pockets. 4. Chest clip5. A comfortable fit on someone both tall and short. We have so many hiking packs so I think we have all our bases covered. There’s nothing obviously lacking on any of them but some are better for some activities than others.
Must be lightweight, have compartments, have a key fob, have a water bottle pocket, have comfortable straps. I wish my pack was washable
1. Water bottle carrier 2. Laptop compartment.3 Several inside pockets. 4. Dark color 5. chest stabilizer straps. I wish my current daypack had #5.
I would love to see a better Cell Phone pocket with protective padding. I really need to feel like the pack will stay rugged and be able to occasionally carry a little more than it was designed to carry.
It needs good straps that fit well around the body, which need to be comfortable. It also needs to be durable: I have owned some that tear up easily, which I don't like at all!
padded straps, extra outer pockets, a hidden small pocket, a single spot at least thats waterproof, a different way to carry the weight/maybe extra strap
For me, the most important thing is comfortable straps. Too many daypacks are painful to wear over an extended time. I wish my pack and most packs had more room for storage.
I really like the strap on MOLLY gear extension. This allows expansion by buying additional items. I love thebines that have a way tonhokd a water pack inside also
Lightweight and not bulkyComfortable straps/beltBack ventilationGood storage but not too many compartmentsSide pouch for water bottleI'd like my current bag to have a USB port.
Very comfort to carry, need a big place to load things, carry water in that back bag so it is very nice to use the product and i want to take food so i need special place forthat
I personally wish that my day pack had a waterproof USB charging port in it. Five things needed, 4 separate pocket areas, all of them zippered, whole thing must be waterproof, must be able to have a side strap area for a water bottle, and must be made of the most lightweight yet most durable material. Thank you.
I want it to have ventilation for my back, comfortable straps, lots of side pockets and water proof. I wish my current one had more side pockets.
I would absolutely want a water bottle and something to store food in (maybe a refrigerated container) because if you're out hiking you need to have food to replenish your energy. A nice multitool would also be helpful, sometimes you need a knife to cut branches or a flashlight to see in the dark. If it had a charger for devices that would be nice (hopefully the bag is also waterproof in this case), and maybe even GPS tracking in the event that you get lost or you lose your bag. A rain cover or raincoat would also be nice for when you get caught in a sudden downpour.
It must be lightweight. It must be roomy but not too bulky. It must be strong. It must have plenty of pockets and slots. It must have two holders for water bottles.
I don't currently own said product, but I do hike and could use one. Here is what I would want in one.Various water proof pockets for things like first aid, protein bars, and a more insulated part to keep water somewhat chilled with insert for ice pack. Outer compartment for bottle, hooks so I wouldn't lose keys or hat. Comfortable and lightweight with adjustable strap
It has to be lightweight, breathable, have outside side pockets for water, be roomy enough for extra clothes and snacks and be durable. I wish it had a charging port that can be plugged in at home for extra phone charge if I'm out all day.
It needs a lot of storage. It needs durability. It needs to be comfortable. It needs to have a variety of colors. It also needs to have different sizes of pockets
must have enough pockets to carry everything, a spot for a regular water bottle, a good sturdy design but being as lightweight as possible. One thing that I wish mine had is a spot where I could put a battery backup to charge my phone
1.) Pockets that evenly distribute the weight. 2.) Comfortable should pads. 3.) Durable construction. 4.) Lightweight. 5.) Cool designs and color
Enough space is top. Other items include, waterproof, correct dimensions for each pocket, cushy straps, and durable
A hiking daypack should have several compartments, it should have a water bottle holder, it should have straps, it should have durable materials, it should have a sturdy zipper. I would like my hiking daypack to have a way to carry a laptop and phone.
A hiking daypack first and foremost must have a good size. The next thing it needs is lots of pockets with zippers, at least 5 or 7. Then I look for padded straps with clips for my chest so I can better support it. The fourth most important thing is durability. This is an item that will take a beating so it must be made of thick materials. And lastly I look for style. I prefer darker colors without patterns and nothing flashy.
water, emergecny first aide kit, snack pocket, place for extra socks
Light weight, internal pockets, external pockets, a waterproof pocket for wet items that is separate from the rest of the pack, straps that adjust, water bottle holder, hooks to clip on things with carbiners
Many pockets with zippers, side pouches for water, straps for upper chest - I can't name 2 more, these are the things that are required for me
I must have shoulder straps that lighten the load.
1) It must be durable and able to take a beating.2) The water pack part must be able to be swappable.3) The water pack should not leak.4) The tube running out from the water pack to the user must be easily opened and closed.5) The daypack must have horizontal straps to secure it to my body.I think something my current Hiking Daypack lacks is extra space to bring along a lot of stuff besides the water.
Five things I require from my day pack are adjustable straps, rain gear storage, zippered pocket for valuables such as keys and phones, hydration storage, and a place to attach a blinker light. My current storage doesn’t have hydration storage which like I mentioned is a must have now.
side pockets, easy access to get inside of it, comfortable straps, a grip handle to pull it up off the ground a heavy zipper. I light a lightweight material
1. Light, 2. Water pack, 3. Lots of compartments, 4. High quality materials, 5. Water proof sections. I wish my current pack had a water tank
It has to be light weight, be waterproof, have a camel back holder, have good zippers, and have a nice strap.
Important to me is having good beefy shoulder straps to support the weight. Also, having open clamshell and large space as well as some small organization.
A thick, padded waist strap is the most important thing to me, for comfort and good weight distribution. Nice shoulder straps would be next on my list. A variety of outside pocket sizes for things I want easy access to, like first aid kit and water bottle. Lightweight construction would be very important to me. Lastly, some sort of internal frame that makes the pack easy to carry and not too bulky.
Good amount of pockets, water bladder, easy access, waterproof, durable.
What I wish my daypack had: Area with cold storage capability to keep snacks and medicines cold during the day.
In order for me to purchase a daypack it has to have the following features : wet proof, lots of pockets, dark color, durability, affordable price. Something that I wish was included with my daypack is a solar panel for charging small electronics. This solar panel would be secure in the construction process of the daypack. It would be sewn in.
Comfort of fit, color, durability, water storage, and insulation properties. I wish that my current daypack was a bit more durable and didnt stain so easily.
It's comfortable to wear, good weight distribution, lots of pockets, rain cover, back support, adjustable shoulder straps, price, quality of fabric, color
A phone pocket on the shoulder strap. I have only had 1 backpack that ever had a phone pocket on the shoulder strap. also a waist strap is essential.
It would have to have a water bottle, blanket, knife, food storage and compass.
The main things I'm looking for are 1. Plenty of pockets for storage 2. Being waterproof, so my items don't get wet, 3. Having straps to attach things on the outside of the pack 4. having adjustable shoulder straps and buckles to make it more comfortable to wear, and 5. having reflective elements for visibility. The main thing I wish my current hiking daypack had would be better integration for my hydration source, and actually having a compartment and system set up to have a drink bladder built into the pack, with the drinking tube going through it.
A big space for your clothes and something that will hold the bottle water and somethings that will help me in my hiking.
I need to have spots for water bottles to go and plenty of loops and things to attach stuff to.
It needs to be made out of a sustainable and lasting material. It needs to be able to handle the wear and tear that comes with hiking. It should be relatively light and soft
A good Price and enough space for me to add all my gear into
The 5 things a hiking daypack should have include: (1) capacity is large enough, i.e, at least 25 liters; (2) it should be made with durable materials; (3) it should be light weighted; (4) it should use padding for the hipbelt so it is comfortable to wear; and (5) it should provide space for storing accessories such as water bottle, umbrella, etc. My current daypack does not use padding so it is uncomfortable to use for a long time.
1. plenty of space2. side pouch for a water bottle3. waterproof4. tag for keys5. adjustable strapsMy current Hiking Daypack does not have adjustable straps. I wish I could adjust it for a more comfortable fit.
Water resistant, pockets which make sense for what I need for the day, light weight, right size, nice color. I like a separate compartment for a change of socks.
Good deep bottle holders, roomy main compartment, quick small pocket for keys ect, comfortable shoulder straps, more straps to snap on stuff for quick access on the outside of the bag.
a side pocket waterbottle holder and something matching on the other side that can also work but could also be a pocket. water bladder hook and tube hole. easy access pockets, at least two of them for small items that you use often. good back support, able to stand up when loaded.
It must have1- Hip Straps (these are important for weight distribution)2. A spot for a Camel Pack3. A rain cover4. Water proof5Decent back/shoulder padding.
Lightweight, waterproof, included bladder, adjustable hip strap with a pocket big enough to for my iphone.
Daypack has to have a good size, be light, torso and hip length for comfort, hydration pockets, padding in the back. This question is not clear. Are you talking about the actual daypack or what should be IN the daypack? I am talking about the actual daypack itself
It must be lightweight. Lots of pockets to store things. The ability to attach things to it. Must be comfortable to carry. Have some kind of padding on the straps and the back where you hold it. I think the most important thing that I would change about mine is to make it lighter and more comfortable to carry .
It needs to be LightweightDurableWaterproofPocketsSecureComfortable
