I'm not interested in any of those extra activities, I'd just want the boot itself.

I don't know if I was hiking if I would need roller skates or Ice skates

I'd very interested in the roller skate

This seems like a very versatile boot, but I would question how high quality it could be given the variety of different uses, versus purchasing separate things for each activity. It could be helpful for it someone who isn't very advanced at any of these activities.

I think it would be neat and interesting to have a shoe like that. I would definitely want to see some pictures

This sounds like a great idea because you don't have to buy separate shoes for all of those activities. I'm just not very interested because I don't skate often enough for it to be worth the money.

I think that the current boots on the market work just fine for me and I would be worried about this one failing.

To be honestly I am not really into any of these sports any more, however when I was and if I still was this would be an awesome idea. No more worrying about remembering shoes and skates, or wanting to go in somewhere but only having skates. Great idea I did not rate 5 stars because I would need more information first.

I think the hiking boot sounds decent but doesn't really feel like it's the best fit for me. It feels a little restricting.

I would find this product interesting, and I would give it a try. I also like the idea of switching the bottom part and being able to use it more then one way. I think overall this is an interesting idea.

Add more attachments to allow it to quick connect into things like snowboards, skiis, and snowshoes!

I have no real need for this. I would much rather have a stylish boot over a clunky looking boot that can turn into roller skates.

That sounds so unnecessary, but something I would absolutely try. It sounds innovative and imaginative, although perhaps dangerous

that sounds like a interesting concept but if i'm buying hiking boots i would prefer them to be as simple and sturdy as possible because the more bells and whistles you add to something the higher the chance of failure

I like the idea in general. But for a hiking boot it kind of sounds like it might be too fragile. Still, I'd want to learn more.

That would be excellent to have for those that are into inline skating. That isn't really for me, though. I do think it's a great idea. Overall, not bad and a good though for something unique. It just isn't something I would do.

I am simply not the target audience for this. I hike, so the quality of hiking boots is important to me, but I would never attach a skate to them, or use a roller or ice skate at all.

That sounds overly complicated. I would look at one, but I don't think I would buy one.

I would prefer to buy roller skates, ice hockey skates or figure skates separately as a single unit because the product is likely to be more durable and functional if it is not just slapped on the bottom of some hiking boots that have no business skating around.

nice product with multiple attachments. Its really interesting and i want to have one

It sounds like a very innovative and interesting idea. I like it! Since I have large feet (size 14), finding comfortable shoes is always a problem for me, but being able to wear my current hiking boots for all different types of activities save me money and allow me to wear my comfortable boots. How about an attachable bottom that also lets you wear them for bowling, too. I hate wearing bowling shoes, they are also uncomfortable for large sized feet like mine.

This sounds like a cool idea, but I really do not have a use or need for these since I do not skate or hike very much.

I would feel like this boot would be a great deal. Having the option to change the boot from regular boots to ice skates/ roller skates is a very new and unique thing. I would love to get those for my kids so they could try out all the different activates you can do with those boots.

It seems like it could be an interesting idea. If the skates attached really securely I think I would consider it.

I don't think I would have much of a need for a hiking boot that have a different attach bottom.

I don't think this would be a good idea. I remember a product like this when I was a kid and it was terrible because the quick attach bottoms were poorly designed.

I like the idea of a hiking boot that is wide in the toes and has ankle support because these features would make the boot more comfortable. But since I don't use skates very often, I don't really think that click on skates would be that useful to me, and I am not sure if I would buy this boot.

It would be very interesting to try. It is a versatile product.

I do not want to use a hiking boot to skate with either roller skates or ice skates. The boot would be too heavy.

I do not do any of the listed activities and the options would make the shoes more expensive .

I think it would be not only dangerous but a little foolish. If I wanted to hike I'd just get a hiking boot and if I wanted to skate, a pair of skates is the better option.

I would be interested to see how it works and how well it works, it seems like an interesting idea.

This is a great idea and I have a lot of interest. I am reminded off old-school shoe skates with straps. These boots would be so convenient for activities!

I would be somewhat skeptical of such a boot. I have had shoes when I was younger that were convertible or had extra holes for wheels, and one of the problems I encountered was mud and dirt getting into the cavity and making the optional pieces difficult to put in. I have also had clip-in snowboarding boots, and if there is any snow in the mechanism, the boots are difficult to "click" in. If this is a hiking boot, then it would be likely that people would mostly be browsing to find boots for walking in the dirt, which would make the other features somewhat difficult to use. While I think the concept is an interesting one, I cannot think of any place in my personal experience where it would be useful or convenient to put on skates during a hike. That said, I do like that the boots are wide through the toes and have ankle supports. Those are both things I would certainly look for in a boot. I'm just not fully convinced on the quick-attach bottom without seeing the mechanism. Good luck!

It's not something I would be interested in but I have a brother who inline skates and he would love something like that. He hates lugging the skates all over the place so for him it would be ideal.

I think this would be an excellent product for people who want to do a variety of things but cannot afford a lot of sports equipment. They would really need to fit correctly so I thing personal fitting would be important.

I am not a 'skater' and while this seems like a nice and convenient product, it does not interest me at all.

Hiking boots with attachable skates? Not for me. Those seem like different use cases. I could seeing someone who does warehouse work using something like this - where they are in a hurry but still need to wear boots.

I don't do these sports, so I wouldn't be interested. However, I am interested in more kinds of steel-toed footwear. Currently I wear Skecher's steel-toed sneakers due to lack of alternatives.

I do not see the likelihood of me hiking and carrying an ice skate with me.

This may be useful for some but unfortunately, not for me.

I am simply too old to need/want. But over all, generally have found something designed to do one thing will do it better than something designed to do numerous.

I think that's a pretty snappy idea, no pun intended! Although my skating days are long gone with my bad ankle.

That actually sounds pretty awesome, and I would be really interested in it.

I like the idea a lot! It seems useful and versatile, which is appealing for sure.

This seems like a novelty item, as opposed to something actually useful. People who hike aren't interested in a gimicky product like this, they want something serious and comfortable. Adding all these little aspects doesn't make the boot more attractive, it makes it more silly. It does nothing to add to the value or usefulness of the boot, just makes it more of something that kids might enjoy. I think the idea is something that would only appeal to very young people who aren't seriously interested in hiking, but find it fun to wear around and try out.

Personally, I don't skate, so none of these options are useful, but even if I did, I would rather spend the money and time looking for specialized examples of each rather than buy a one size fits all option.

I would not be interested in such a hiking boot. I would prefer a dedicated boot which is focused on just hiking functionality. I would not want a boot where different attachments can switch in and out as I would wonder about the overall quality and durability.

It sounds like a really cool product. The only issue is the boot issue. Figure an ice hockey use different types of boots not just blade. But I love inline skating and figure skating and I definitely need to buy skates.

I would be very interested in this and am surprised it hasn't been developed up to this point. This would save people a lot of money with the increased versatility. The ankle supports and wide toe box are critical, too.

Survey Analysis

Winning Option: Characteristics and Appeal

  • Option B emerged as the preferred brand packaging design, securing 12 out of 15 votes. Respondents frequently highlighted its aesthetic appeal, emphasizing the luxurious and high-quality impression it conveys. The ability to stack packages was a notable practical advantage mentioned by participants.
  • Several respondents appreciated the monochrome color scheme of Option B, which they found less overwhelming compared to more colorful designs. This preference for simplicity suggests that minimalistic designs may resonate well with this group.
  • Additionally, environmental considerations played a role in favoring Option B; some participants noted its reduced plastic usage and recyclability as attractive features.

Key Topics Across Options

  1. Aesthetic Appeal: Across both options, aesthetics were crucial in influencing preferences. Participants often referred to colors and overall design quality when justifying their choices.

  2. Environmental Concerns: Both options had respondents who valued environmentally friendly aspects of packaging. However, while Option A was praised for being reusable and eco-friendly by some, others perceived Option B’s reduced plastic use as more sustainable.

  3. Practicality: Practical elements such as ease of stacking (Option B) or suitability for travel (Option B) were significant factors in decision-making processes.

Hypotheses for Further Testing

  • Investigate whether minimalistic designs consistently outperform colorful ones across different demographic groups or product categories.

  • Explore if environmental messaging on packaging significantly influences consumer preference when compared with other attributes like luxury perception or practicality.

  • Assess how important stacking capability is relative to other functional benefits in various contexts such as home storage versus travel convenience.

These hypotheses can guide further research into understanding deeper consumer motivations behind packaging preferences observed in this survey context.
