Which cover do you prefer for a Japanese Grammar book?
Option A won this Ranked poll with a final tally of 30 votes after 1 round of vote counting.
In a Ranked poll, respondents rank every option in order of preference. For example, when you test 6 options, each respondent orders their choices from first to sixth place.
PickFu requires a majority to win a Ranked poll. A majority winner differs from a plurality winner. A majority winner earns over 50% of the votes, whereas a plurality winner earns the most votes, regardless of winning percentage.
If an option does not earn a majority of votes, PickFu eliminates the option with the lowest number of votes. The votes from the eliminated option are reassigned based on each respondent’s next choice. This process continues in rounds until a majority winner emerges.
Scores reflect the percentage of total votes an option receives during the vote counting and indicate the relative preference of the respondents. If there is no majority winner, look to the scores to see how the options fared relative to one another.
Option | Round 1 |
---|---|
A | 60% 30 votes |
B | 34% 17 votes |
C | 6% 3 votes |

I picked A because I liked the design as well as the detailed information on the cover. The small font on C is too hard to read and the design of B is somewhat irrelevant/inappropriate.
I chose A first, because that cover gives me the impression that it is a serious textbook for studying. I chose B over C next, because that cover gives me the idea that it will be more fun for more casual learners.
"A" begins with the basics. This is needed when learning a new language.
Definitely Option A because it looks more legitimate and a better book to learn from. Thank you.
Option A shows the culture on the front page and tells you how the book will help you. Option C is just a simple cover and there is nothing wrong with that, however if it is for someone learning Japanese, I doubt they could read the Japanese text. I don't really like option B as it draws from the stereotypical "everything in Japan is anime related".
Though not my favorite style, I prefer Option A for its legibility and its more thorough listing of what's included, especially the downloadable audio files.
I think choice A and C look more professional than choice B.
I think A looks like it was written by professionals, giving the impression that its a better book. I don't think having cartoons on the cover is good idea.
Option A looks no-nonsense and authoritative
One of the reasons I chose A is because I like that the title says Japanese for Beginners. I also like that the book includes a free audio download. The color scheme and designs on the book catch my eye. I like that this is a book as well as a workbook which I think is good when learning a new language.
I like the "textbook and workbook included" and free audio download that option A has. C/B I would not pick they don't have as much to offer.
I love the bright colors, free audio download and clarity of the cover of A, not to mention the excellent graphic art on the cover. B is stylized and fairly clear though, while the color scheme of C isn't great, yellow on light orange isn't something that really pops much, it obscures more than it clarifies.
1st-A: this design is young and dynamic, it's neither too traditional nor outdated.2nd-C: this design is basic but brings an academic vibe3rd-B: the anime character makes me think this book is kinda childish, it may not work for me.
A if informative, interesting, cool looking and it is visible.... In a stack of books it looks unique enough that I would notice it. It looks like a school or non-fiction book too. It has a professional or "educational" feel. I do not know anything about Japan. But the symbols and icons remind me of japan which is great. Knowing i get a free audio, even if it is a gimmick is great! We (people) love free stuff... Plus it is informative telling me about the book.C did all the same things as a but less. I think if I genuinely were seeking books to learn Japanese the simplicity of that cover would really appeal to me. It might even feel a bit more "educational" than A. This book says "Here is the book to learn Japanese" and that is what people want. Its the more basic version and I like it. A still favoriteI might be alone... C is cute.... To me women sell, I am a male. I understand it is a comic.... However, I do not like anime. For me by a long shot C was the one I did not like at all. It appeared childish and like a book my kid would have. If that is the market.... Little kids - I think you nailed it. Its too bright and cartoony. Does not feel serious. But a lot of people who are interested in Asian culture might love Anime/Japan... not me. If I want to learn the language I will look for A!
Depending on who the book is marketed for I think the plain cover feels more official. The image in B seems like it is aiming for the weebs only
I think a looks most professional.
I think my first choice is most clear as to what the book is. I do not like the anime image on my last choice.
I like all the images on the cover of A and A has the most information about what the book covers. I don't really care for the graphic on B, it looks a little inappropriate and frivolous. But it does give information, which is good. I like the graphic on C, but there is not much information to go on.
The orange one looks too plain and boring, but the other two and interesting.
I picked option A because the cover clearly states "Japanese Grammar for Beginners".
Option A is my top choice for such a book because the cover explains very clearly what the contents are about and how it would be helpful.
I like the design of option A the most it's the most creative of the bunch, plus it states that there is a free audio download to get to hear how words are pronounced which sets itself apart from the other options. Theres also a few bits of more info about what to expect in the book compared to the others as well.
Option A seemed the most professional.
I like that it gives you a lot of details on what you'll be learning a learning as well as the fact that there is a free download to go along with it.
Wow, three nice options. I would go with this one as it has a bit more information on what to expect inside of the book.
B is gross. Stop sexualizing everything. A makes the most sense and is the most appealing.
Option A is perfect! "Japanese Grammar for Beginners" is simple and straightforward.
I like A the best because it seems like it would appeal to a broader range of individuals.
Option A seemed the most professional. Option C was okay and straightforward but not very interesting. Option B seemed to have a sexual connotation that I do not approve of.
It looks interesting and looks like it would have a good layout, font and color scheme conducive to learning.

Option B is simple, easy to read, and looks most like an educational book
Clear simple description with attractive color and picture.
ii ranked the books in the order i would be most tempted to buy. option b looks child and adult friendly with the character on the cover the rest of the books just look good also
I like the anime girl from option B. It is more enticing
I like option B the best because I like the image of the Japanese girl because I associate that art style with Japan and it's perfect representative image for a Japanese book.
I prefer the option B language book cover because the anime illustration looks interesting and the blue background color is appealing. I chose option A second because this book cover has a lot of useful text and descriptions of what it contains but the background illustrations are somewhat unrelated to Japan. I chose option C last because this book cover uses a lot of Japanese text that is difficult to read and understand if someone does not already know Japanese.
I would prefer option B's Japanese Grammar book cover as rank 1 because the girl cartoon, blue background, and text designs are more interesting.I would prefer option A's Japanese Grammar book cover as rank 2 because of the white background and puzzle-like design.Option C is my least favorite choice, rank 3, because the plain light orange color theme does not look nicer.
Choice B looks the best to me.
I do prefer the cover on option B because of its few wording and its color which does attract me towards it.
The character on this design makes it much more attention grabbing and inviting to me
It is how I would image a grammer book should look, stays in line with the standard
Choice b is very eye grabbing, and I love the character they used to be the mascot of the book as well. It really makes me want to read the book.
First pick is B because it makes learning look fun. Second pick is A because it has lots of details most people will like but not an attention grabber. Third pick is C because I did not like the orange background it looks like a school book this way.
I like the little anime character, gives it pizzaz. I also like the Japanese letting on it with the orange. They are both good.
I definitely like this one the best. I like the background color. I also like the student on the cover. It reminds me of my school days and being eager to learn
Great book covers. I love the look for option B. This is fun and the anime feel is excellent. I'd choose that for the top choice and think it will be the most well-received of the books here. I'd choose that for the best option for the book cover.
I liked B most because the cover seemed friendly and relatable. I felt that A looked a bit too generic, while C seemed awkward and way too plain.

I picked C because it has Japanese writing on the front in large print
I like seeing the Japanese characters In Choice C. It makes it clear that it’s a language book. A is ugly and B looks like manga
I think that option C looks like the most professional and trustworthy option. I would think this book would help me achieve my goals and is written by someone who is knowledgeable and smart
