Which of these book titles would you be more likely to purchase, and why?
Option C won this Ranked poll with a final tally of 26 votes after 2 rounds of votes counting.
In a Ranked poll, respondents rank every option in order of preference. For example, when you test 6 options, each respondent orders their choices from first to sixth place.
PickFu requires a majority to win a Ranked poll. A majority winner differs from a plurality winner. A majority winner earns over 50% of the votes, whereas a plurality winner earns the most votes, regardless of winning percentage.
If an option does not earn a majority of votes, PickFu eliminates the option with the lowest number of votes. The votes from the eliminated option are reassigned based on each respondent’s next choice. This process continues in rounds until a majority winner emerges.
Scores reflect the percentage of total votes an option receives during the vote counting and indicate the relative preference of the respondents. If there is no majority winner, look to the scores to see how the options fared relative to one another.
Option | Round 1 | Round 2 |
---|---|---|
C | 40% 20 votes | 52% 26 votes +6 |
A | 30% 15 votes | 30% 15 votes |
B | 18% 9 votes | 18% 9 votes |
D | 12% 6 votes | Eliminated 6 votes reassigned |

A seems the most intriguing. This is more detailed and seems like more of a well developed method.
it sounds as though this one may be the most helpful in learning how to write and journal
I like them in the order of how detailed they are. The details give me a better idea what to expect.
Option A and B describe finding one's Creative Compass, which is what many writers struggle with the most, but A is slightly better because the context of "Story Cycle" is clearer in its title than in the other two. This is similarly why I prefer Option D to Option C.
"method" makes it sound like you actually get a tangible approach to learn
D and C are concise, vague and lack detail. A and B are more empowering, enticing, informative and contextual.
I think A gives the most information and makes me more likely to check it out, where as the others, I feel, need a bit more information.
The clarity of the text and how easily i could comprehend if the book would help me from reading the title were the reasons for the ranking.
Option á is the most descriptive and I like method that shows there will be content and good explanation and a plan to follow.
Option A sounds like it would be the most in depth book. Gives my the impression that it would be the most helpful.
it the statement on A and b are compelling and kind of tell a story.
I chose option A first because the text uses the word method, which makes me think they are going to show me actual steps on how to write a story. I chose option D next because the word method is used but it doesn't have the "creative compass" line. I chose B and C last because I wouldn't know what "Story cycle" meant without the word method.
I like A the most (although I would prefer if it as Finding your Creative Compass to Map...). I definitely think calling it THE Story Cycle Method, better conveys that this is a type of educational/instructional book. I don't think it's set up as well when it just says Story Cycles. Option D is next - again, because it lets me know it's a method/an approach. I think the subtitle is a little too short but it's still good. Option B is next - I do like the longer subtitle, but just having Story Cycles doesn't tell me much. It sounds odd. Option C is last - both parts are too vague to create any mental picture.
I chose these options based upon completion. It is mostly how productive the book title sounds. If it sounds like it has a relevant conclusion of the main title, then I will select that particular choice.
Option A is the most informative title, it grabs my eye right away and gives me an idea of the content of the book. B is better than D because I like the addition of the word "method" as if this is a system I could learn. C is the least informative title, and I wouldn't understand the concept of "story cycles" and how they could help my writing.

I think the more-detailed subtitles explain a lot about what the book will be about, and I find that extremely helpful.
B... I chose this one and it sounds intriguing and engaging and like it would be full of energy. That is the impression I got when reading these and that It would be better than just a book meaning I think it would be really engaging and creative.
I like that the B title has a short initial title and more meat in terms of the secondary portion.
I ranked based on which tagline captured my attention the best
B just speaks to me in what I would be interested in
I prefer option B because this book title sounds the most well balanced to me and is easy to comprehend.
Option B is my preferred choice because it is more compelling and interesting.
I get why you included the word method but I prefer the shorter titles.
I picked B and A because the longer title adds more context.

Short and to the point titles are preferred. I can get a good idea of the what the book's about, and if I want to click on it, from the information in C/D. Options A/B are too long.
I prefer short and succinct sentences and titles. Sort of like Hemingway. My top 2 choices get the point across well.
Shorter and more thought provoking.
As in writing , being consist is the best method thus my top choice
B and A are too long, they become mumbo-jumbo after a while.
It is brief and to the point.
I want a title that explains exactly what it's about.
Option A is my last pick because this title is simply too long. I lose interest about halfway through reading it. Option C is my top pick because the title is concise, interesting and engaging. Option D and Option B were the middle picks based on the length of the title. I think the shorter, the better but these two fall in the mid-range in terms of how long they are.
C speaks to me the most, followed by D They are clear and concise, and have meaning. B and A are just a big mouthful of nothingness
i like choice C and D the best cause they are short and to the point. i think it is more eye catching when the title isnt too long and is easy to understand what it is.
I connect more with begin your writing journey than I do with "map your writing journey"
I like this simpler version best. It cuts to the point and gets to the true purpose of the book.
I like the more concise title in option c and d, option a and b are great with engaging taglines.
I chose option C because it is short and straight to the point. I like that it makes it sound like it is for beginners and would be something good for them to read if you are just starting out.
I chose C because shorter is better when it comes to book titles. I picked A last because it is the longest and most cumbersome title. It is awful.
Option C is simple and easy, therefore my first choice. Option D flows well and so is my second choice. Options B and A are equally bad in my opinion and I wouldn't choose them at all.
Generally speaking, shorter titles are better. There is only so much attention people have and you have to grab them quickly. With that said, I like how Story Cycles sounds on its own without calling it a "method" and putting me at the beginning of a writing journey is a lot easier to visualize.
C is short and concise and easy to grab your attention. The rest of the results are too long and seeing it on a book cover would not hold your attention.
C for sure ! Makes most sense ! Clear!
Ranked in order of how smoothly they are written and read.

Well I have no experience with writing so I like begin your writing journey. I need to find my creativity to help me know how and what to write about. I would pick D first over C because I like the THE in the front . Same with A and B . I just prefer begin to find your creativity.
D and C both get the point across quite well and do a fine job of giving me guidance.
D and C are quick and easy to understand and pulls me in.
I would likely purchase the ones that mention beginning a writing journey.
I chose D and C first because they where not as wordy as B and A.
I like the clear and concise presentation of option D.
