When deciding on a hiking day pack to purchase (30-40 liters) would you rather buy a pack with Option A: Large bucket style main compartment, zipper opens and closes over the top? Option B: Large Traditional zipper type main compartment?
8 Responses to Option A
Option A is better as when hiking those types of backpacks are generally better and more efficient to use instead of zipping and unzipping
I would choose A because it looks like a more classic hiking bag.
I choose A because this design of the zipper allows me to access the content inside very fast and easy, compared to B
The full cover on the backpack looks really good and seems like it protects the backpack quite well
I would choose the one with the larger opening because I use backpacks to shop.
This set up with the zipper closing over the top is a unique way to go about it
I prefer option A because the style allows for more carry space and the color looks much cooler as well.
I think this gives you more ways to pack without having to compartmentize items and allows you to use your own cubes easier.

I really like the shade of blue seen in B
The traditional option works best for me, as that is closest to what I have, and I have never had any issues with it.
I've always used a traditional style backpack, it's just what I prefer.
Traditional style will always be my preferred choice for backpacks, and this is coming from someone who owns over five of them for hiking
I like this blue one the best. It is the most compact and looks comfortable to wear.
I liked choice B since the compartments give me more storage space and looks more durable. Choice A looks too generic and not as appealing with the one big compartment.
I prefer this design because I'm more familiar with how it works
I think that option B esthetically looks better. It also looks a little smaller which is okay because it will prevent me from overpacking heavy things.
I'm more used to the traditional design in Option B. I'd be open to trying Option A, but I prefer Option B mainly because I'm much more familiar with it.
option B looks like a better built heavy duty looking pack than option A. I like the zippers on option B better as well.
I would rather the traditional one. I always thought it was the easiest to open. It also looks better than the other option
I would choose B because that's what I'm used to, I've never had problems, but maybe I'm missing something and don't know it regarding the design of A.
The most important thing for me in a pack is the width and sturdiness of the straps and knowing how they work. A hides this utterly, while B displays the strength and width of the pack straps fully, which is a good asset. I also can see with B the capacity is 40. A is a gamble while B is a sure bet, clearly showing me how good it is.
I chose option B because this is for a day hike. I would definitely choose option A for anything longer than a day. Option B looks like it has easy accessibility, but isn't too big to carry on a day hike. It also looks like you could pack more with it (like a sleeping bag) or attach things to it, like shoes, if necessary.
Traditional one because I would not want A which seems like it could get overloaded easily.
I like the style & the color better than A.
I prefer option B looks high quality. I find it looks comfortable.
I feel as though the zipper style opens up more and is easier to get into the entire thing without sticking my whole arm into a dark bag.
It looks more beautiful, durable and authentic.
Honestly, option B just seems like a more functional bag. Beyond that, it's just nicer looking bag/design. Between the two, I'd buy option B.
I think B looks better and I think it would suit my needs just fine
I like the versatility of zipper designs, which are striking and classy. Very cool for sure!
option B and i like the overall look of it compared to option A because i can clearly see the zippers
Option B seems the easiest to set the weights right and keep everything from moving around and crushing your back. I like the slim look as I feel it would center your weights better on your back.
I like B better because it is easier to open and get things in and out of the type of bag.
I prefer the traditional zipper bags. I like the pack having a quite rigid feel that the sack style don't often have.
Everything would get lost in A and for a day pack organization is more important.
B i think i like this more as the zipper is style is more like something i'm used to and it overall looks better made in general and of more high quality materials
Option B: Large Traditional zipper type main compartmentThis one seems more compact and the center of gravity or weight is more localized.
I would go with the choice B as I prefer a traditional zipper but also they color. I don't like the design or color of choice A that I didn't even bother looking twice at this backpack.
I like option b better. That type of bag has always worked for me in the past, I know I can trust it.
I prefer the more traditional. The other one I wouldn't know what to do with
I believe that practicality increasingly prevails in the priority needs, in this case, I opt for this model. Regardless that the look is better.
I love the traditional zipper. It goes better for the items that I would put into the bag
I really like B the best because I like that it has a zipper at the top and A looks a bit too bulky for me.
I would prefer the option B traditional style of backpack with the traditional zipper compartment because this kind of backpack is the most comfortable to use and is what I have always used when going hiking and allows quicker access to the compartments than the option A backpack style.
This zipper configuration is more convenient. The contents of the backpack can be reached easily.
Generally speaking, I prefer the more traditional style backpacks. Also the color in B is much more style.
I like the traditional zipper style, and this color is better
As an avid hiker option B would be optimal for me for a day hike. What one takes on a day hike versus a multi-day or thru-hike varies greatly. Pack B is geared for easy quick and frequent access while Pack A is for storing long term use items.
i prefer a backpack that has a lot of pockets so that i can put important things in pockets that are easier to get to or that i would be taking out often.
I prefer the way the traditional backpack looks.
