Would you use the following app if you have children that will be going to college in the future?
50 Responses
I suppose so, I would rather talk to a counselor specific to my childs school.
My kids still have years before college, but this sounds like a great app to have.
I sure would, anything that could potential be helpful to my child's learning experience would be something I would want to use.
I would be interested in this because my son is 17 and will start college next year, so this would be most useful.
Yes it would be beneficial to get counseling services online to help sort through all of the many choices.
This sounds like an app I would be interested in using. It would help future college students and their parents with choices on what college offers what and what they should be taking when starting college.
This would be extremely useful and both child and parents could be less nervous as they could get all their questions answered before actually visiting the college or before taking any specific steps.
my children would love it
This sounds interesting. Personally, I would prefer to speak face to face. However, this would be a more convenient option. This is an app that I would use only if it were absolutely neccessary.
I think this is a great idea. I would definitely use this app if I had a child going off to college. This app seems very informative and helpful.
I think it would be a great benefit to have an app like this. I think the most stressful thing in prepping for college is peace of mind, knowing that you understand the process. Should something come up where I or my child has a question I would definitely use this app.
If my kids decided they wanted to go to college, I would certainly use the app. It would be an invaluable tool to help them through admissions and what they need to do to get into the college of their choice. I don't plan on pushing college onto my kids. There are plenty of jobs that don't require college.
Yes, I would use this app. I have a 13 year old and having quick access to answer questions would be a plus.
As a parent of a 12 year old I think this could be a useful app. The college admission process is very stressful for both parent and child. Anything that you help assist you with making the process for fluid and easier is a welcome thing.
I would use it depending on if it was free or had an associated cost. If it had a cost, I would not use it. If it was free, I would consider it a valuable resource.
i think it would eliminate long trips and exspenses for some families
This could be very helpful as my teens approach college age.
No, I don't think I would use this app. My husband and I both have lots of experience and connections in higher education, including at an Ivy League school. I think we would just go straight to a friend or coworker with questions. Or more accurately, connect our kids with these people to ask questions.
I would be very interested in an app such as this. My child will be heading to college in a couple of years and is already thinking about where she wants to go and what she wants to study. It has been a long time since I was in college and don't necessarily know where to start to help her prepare or to help her for successful admission.
Yes it seems very appealing but I would kind of rum do more research on it before I choose whether or not to use i
No, I already got one child through the process and she is now a senior in college, so when my younger daughter goes through the process I shouldn't need extra help.
I might use this app but I am more likely to search for information on the internet.
I think this is an innovative idea. Many times both parents and students do not know enough about the college admissions process and to be able to connect with others that are going through the same thing and can share knowledge would be very helpful
I would use this. I have a child that will be a senior this year. I am getting stressed about college applicatins, etc for my son. This app could be very useful.
I think I would use this if it were not too expensive. There is a lot of things that go into college admissions and having a certified counselor you could talk to online would probably be a pretty good option. Again it would depend on the cost for me.
Yes, I would love to use an app like this. I can remember when I went to college I had to figure everything out for myself. My mother wasn't very technologically advanced so I was left to dive right in and figure it out. It would have been so helpful to have an app and be able to chat with someone about simple questions. I think this is a great idea.
I honest don't think I would use this app. ( sorry) My son, got this advise in high school and than again when he pick a college, so I personally don't think it would be good app for me, but I can see how this may be good for others that aren't able to get this in high school or college.
This sounds interesting and I would be open to using this app. I think I would probably consult with my child's guidance counselor first, but this would be nice to have another option for assistance.
I think it's a great opportunity to help our boys and girls know better about what's the best degree and the whole admission process.
Possibly. I work in higher ed, so I know a fair amount about this topic, but my child (who is looking at colleges right now) would likely use this service, depending on the cost.
I would consider the app if it were free.
no because i'm not sure i'd trust the person at the other end of the video chat to be who they say they are
Yes, this is a wonderful idea. You don't have to travel to the College Admissions office to talk and have questions answered. You can do it in the safety, and convenience of your own home. Makes it easier for both the parents, and the children enrolling into college.
I think this could be beneficial since there are so many questions that come up throughout this process that are hard to find good answers for.
I have kids that may go to college in the future. Given that school counselors have a lot of students to speak to, and they often focus on the poorest and/or more troubled students, an app like ApplyChat could be useful and there is a good chance I would consider using it in the future.
this is good
I probably will not. I assume there is cost to this. I have two children who went to college, but I never felt it necessary that we talk to somebody for help. You submit your GPA through high school and do your best to get high SAT or ACT scores. Do volunteering. Submit your applications. It was not that difficult.
It sounds good but wondering if it would be that useful. I feel the only way that it would really be useful is if it was connected to the particular college that my daughter would be going to.....otherwise answers might just be too general.
I would use it maybe for a month but not for long. Maybe for a small fee because it seems like it would be something that would help but I do not think that I would use it long term.
I would be just as likely to use it as I would to not use it. It would end up, likely, being one of those things I download with the full intention of using it, but then I Never do.
I would find this app useful especially for parents like me who has a daughter who will go to college in a few years. Being able to connect to a consultant to answer any question you might have is definitely helpful. It takes away the uncertainty of what needs to be done in preparation for college.
I believe that I would. This is more than just taking an educated guess by looking at a website. I think this would be a great asset to use.
I absolutely would have used this app! My daughter just graduated from college and is going back to school to obtain a Nursing degree. The amount of time we spent looking into schools for the special program she wanted (accelerated BSN), something like that would have saved us so much time, I can't even begin to tell you. It's too late for us, but sounds like an awesome idea, wish I would have thought of it!
Absolutely! My daughter will be a senior this year and we are very nervous about the college application process. we do not know where to start and having an on demand admission counseling service would be a great help for us. we would utilize this app 100%
I would definitely use something like this. I think it sounds like a cool thing.
Yes, this sounds like it could be a beneficial app, especially for students looking for guidance. When I was applying for college there were questions my parents and I had which I didn't want to talk with the school about. An app like this would have been very beneficial so i could see using this type of app once my son decides to start college.
Maybe. But what does the app give me that a phone call does not?
It will be helpful when my kids go to college
YES. I think this new way of using app's vs. calling companies and waiting on hold forever or getting people who cannot speak English is great. Especially when you have random questions and you can just text them vs. calling and doing the process over again. I recently used this type of program with Lowe's for a complaint. All through text, it was great. Then also I ordered my contact lenses all through text and had no issues.
An app like this would be very helpful. I always forget to ask questions and think of many questions to ask later so this would be a big help for parents and for the student going to college.
