I think the wood matches the warm aesthetic and also the woody flavor of whiskey, and it adds some rustic elegance, so that's perfect.

I love the contrast. Glass for the whiskey and wood for the assorted nuts. It's a nice balance. The both crystal is a little posh and can come across as trying to hard I think

if it is a gift set, I would prefer to recieve the nut dish and the drinkware as the same or similar material. IF it were a set for a home bar-I would go for the wooden dish, like the bars have.
