This is a book for German elementary school students about ancient Rome and the Romans. Which book cover would you buy for your kids?
Option B won this Ranked poll with a final tally of 29 votes after 2 rounds of votes counting.
In a Ranked poll, respondents rank every option in order of preference. For example, when you test 6 options, each respondent orders their choices from first to sixth place.
PickFu requires a majority to win a Ranked poll. A majority winner differs from a plurality winner. A majority winner earns over 50% of the votes, whereas a plurality winner earns the most votes, regardless of winning percentage.
If an option does not earn a majority of votes, PickFu eliminates the option with the lowest number of votes. The votes from the eliminated option are reassigned based on each respondent’s next choice. This process continues in rounds until a majority winner emerges.
Scores reflect the percentage of total votes an option receives during the vote counting and indicate the relative preference of the respondents. If there is no majority winner, look to the scores to see how the options fared relative to one another.
Option | Round 1 | Round 2 |
---|---|---|
B | 40% 20 votes | 58% 29 votes +9 |
A | 36% 18 votes | 42% 21 votes +3 |

I really like the first one the most, the others look pretty good as well
I chose A because it looks the most realistic while still being appropriate for kids. C is too violent in nature.
A I like the most because it shows a roman statue which is something Rome is known for. B I like that it shows a roman in the outfit they wore and on a horse. C I wouldn't want to get because it is a picture of violence.
I like this one because it looks more realistic and it makes me think my child would learn about things that actually had happened.
A looks adventurous but not too adventurous. I feel like it would appeal to kids of all kinds
I like the one with the statue in the background, it looks cooler.
I like the different cultural aspects represented in my top choice. The emperor, Spartan, and architecture are all important aspects of Rome.
I like all of them but I think kids would like A the most. Seeing a real person on the cover in costume would draw them in.
I would buy option A first because I think it portrays what they will be learning without being too busy.
I chose option A because I like that the artwork on this one because I like that it is more realistic and less cartoony than the other two options.
To me these graphics are way better at depicting what I think of when I hear Rome being mentioned.
I like option A the best because I like that there are three different images on the cover, which could stimulate the interest in young students.
I like the uniform on this one the best.
Ancient Rome is about battle and culture not just battle A shows both
I like Option A the best because I like the more realistic looking cover rather than the cartoon looking covers of the other two. My son would definitely be interested in something like this and would most likely pick Option A as well.
A is the only one that looks realistic. The other two are just bad illustrations.
I like A and B the most because they're fitting for the cover of children's books, especially A with the cool gladiator, I think kids would like that. The cover of C looks very violent and even though that is one of the themes of the era I don't think it makes a friendly cover for a kid's book (people are basically killing each other on the cover).
The background in A looks more ancient. C over B because the more Romans fighting makes me think of them more than the horse.

The color scheme was the most subtle in B which I liked. I thought C was too dark and depressing.
Note that I am unable to read the language (which I think is German) that is on the covers, so my ranking is based entirely on the imagery.I think B is the best fit for elementary-aged children. The illustrations do not look scary, and I think young kids would be drawn to learn more about the hero-looking figure who rides on the majestic horse. Option A might be the best fit for children in older ages, because the cover looks more realistic. I do not care for the illustration in C because of all the violence.
The book cover that I would most likely buy based on all of the images shown would definitely be option B. I think it’s much more interesting as well as much more interactive.
B has the most open and dynamic format that has a strong character mix as well. It really brings a new life to the idea
I ranked my choices based on which cover had the least violence.
I prefer the cartoon versions of the real actors. I thought B was good because it emphasized something other than violence.
i would buy the book cover in option B first because it looks more exciting for kids to read
the drawing is fabulous and has a great description
B is best because its fun and looks interesting all without looking to violent, A is next but its pretty bland, C is last because it is simply too violent it looks like a war going on.
Very educative and inspiring.
I like option B the best. I think the cover is historically accurate the most. I think it pictorializes what it was most like in a roman legion
I would choose option B as my first and top choice because it does a good job showing off famous Roman statues and what a Roman soldier would be wearing in to battle. It also shows Roman sites in it's background image.I would choose option A as my second best choice because it shows appropriately in illustration a great leader heading into battle and leading his troops.Shows good illustration of artwork and appropriate attire of the era. Option C would be my last choice because it shows just a battle happening it doesn't convey enough to show it's about Rome It could just as well be vikings in battle.
Choice B is the most appropriate for the target audience. It features a friendly 'statesman' waving to the 'public' of a historic republic. It seems the best fit for the age group. Choice A has the look of the textbook cover, very academic, but the graphic is grainy and the focus on the warrior is not as nice. Choice C is the least appropriate - the style of the cover illustration looks more fit for a teenage graphic novel. Importantly, considering this is a book for German schoolchildren, the image of Roman legions attacking faceless tribal hordes (traditionally known as the Germanic invasion) will be an illustration that sets up a difficult narrative.
Options B and C has art that has a lot more time, thought and energy put into it. The font is nice and well put together on the covers.
I selected the book covers that I found to be the most visually stimulating and eye catching based on the options available.
I would buy B or A because a kid doesnt need to see fighting on a cover of a book. There is enough of that in the world we live in
I chose B because I am visually drawn to the non-violent looking cartoon character the most. The real life person looks kind of cheesy - like it's a man playing dress up. Option C looks kind of scary so it was my last choice.
B is cool and interesting, best. then A. C looks too violent.
I choose to select option C, it has the ancient touch in it's cover page of the book. The characters in the book was really engaging to the eyes of the reader of the book. It will keep elementary school kids engaged with the book by it' cover image.
I would choose B because I like the drawing

I feel that C has the best cover that looks the best and meshes best with the book.
I think option "C" looks the most modern in terms of graphics styling, which I think would most appeal to today's kids.
C is very action based in terms of cover art so I think it would be attention grabbing for kids and they would be drawn to the book more.
I like option C the best because the color and the images stand out more and grab my attention.
Looks most interesting and offering a fun take on history which is appealing and valuable to me
Since it's for kids , I really think the more cartoonish look will catch the children's eye the most. Showing people at war looks highly interesting.
I really like the art of war on the cover of C as it's conveying a time of war. A is nice looking and using a real person makes it eye catching.. B is a simple design that seems to be typical of any book .
The picture with multiple people in it looks quite fun compared to the others.
When I'm looking for a workbook for my kids, I would pick choice C because I feel choice C draws people in with its colorful picture.
The Option C would be the first choice as it shows that Romans are fighting in a war or against each other. That would be a correct depiction for Roman history as their history is full of wars and bloodshed. Option B would be the second option as there is a man in a suit of armor and that's one of the symbols for Romans too. Option B shows them as noble characters which I would never buy as they did act like they were very noble but they were not.
This has the most vibrant and action packed cover to it. I love the fonts and the overall colors here
I most prefer option C. This option makes the book seem most exciting to me just going off of the illustration.
