I keep it at a minimum by timing the delivery of packages for only when Im at home for large purchases

I HAVE CAMERAS ON THE FRONT OF MY HOUSE SO I CAN WATCH FOR THEFT, DAMAGE I DON'T THINK THERE IS A LOT THAT YOU CAN DO ABOUT THAT

I feel that I and people I know are usually able to prevent theft or damage to delivered packages by using a security camera and beware dog sign to scare away any potential criminals from picking up my delivered packages when I am not home.

My home I am able to keep it safe. So package theft or damage does not really happen to me as they are left in a secure location.

I have a doorbell camera so I think that's good enough. I have never had a package stolen yet.

I live in a big city in a big apartment and it's tough to prevent package theft as a result.

people arent able to do a good job for the most part

My current building has an unsecured lobby that gets packages left in it sometimes, so its important that I make sure to take others' stuff in when I see it there, so everyone's stuff can be safe.

Security cameras have worked well for people I know. I personally do not use any of them and have never had a package stolen.

I am able to prevent theft/damage to packages by tracking when the package is supposed to arrive and promptly removing it from my front porch after it does. If I am unable to pick up my package in a timely manner, I will usually get it delivered to an Amazon locker or something similar.

So far, pretty well, but we live rurally, so it would be odd for a theft to occur. We have had some weather damage, but most delivery services are very good about following the requests we make for where to leave packages.

I'm able to because I live in a gated area, but I know my neighbors aren't so lucky.

I don't have a hard time of it. I have security cameras for this kind of thing, and even beyond that, I have the best security: Having trustworthy neighbors who keep an eye on my stuff, and vice versa when they get deliveries. That's always going to be more effective than other methods. Cameras don't hurt though, and useful for many other reasons besides packages.

I think that my cameras and my insane dogs do a pretty good jobn

I think the concealment, lock boxes, security cameras, and Amazon pickup do a good job for this overall. Amazon Locker is nice to have. These all help and think they are good enough for now for options here. I would be wary of leaving anything on my porch long term.

We personally have a lot of security cameras, and when something shows up damaged I report it immediately. It wouldn't exactly stop someone from stealing stuff, but they're be on multiple cameras if they did, and cameras these days have pretty good quality.

It is okay but it could be better, people find away to get past security measures and they can pretend to be people that they aren't.

I live in a secured condo building and it's touch and go. Cameras do not deter people and I've actually found empty packages with my name on them in the neighborhood before.

One of the major ways to ensure that the packages are safe once they are dropped by our door steps is first ensuring there is a person at home when the delivery is brought or having a safe box that one is only able to drop the item without opening the box but needs a key to pick it up or having the CCTV cameras left running at the dropping point and last having a god at the drop way to guard it.

So far, I have had no issues, but I do live in a neighborhood with a low crime rate. Also, I have a large dog which may scare off possible theft.

I choose to have my packages if I can on a day that I know someone will be home but if that's not possible then I make sure I have my security camera running and notices sent to my phone. I know others who have a security box outside of their home that they instruct the mail carrier service to place the package in.

If im not going to be home i use the locker

I'm not really able to prevent it. The pickup locations kind of defeat the purpose since you have to go get them.

not very good, if i am not home they sit until i am, i can only do so much at my townhome and cant make a 'hide'

I have had no issue, Amazon offers a pickup spot real close to my house.

it is actually quite difficult and inconvenient and there needs to be a better solution.

It's pretty secure, but that's because I live in a safe neighborhood.

I don't know? I don't really think about it

I have not had any difficulties with keeping packages secure however other people I know have their packages stolen often

We do not take advantage of concealment or security cameras, so it's important to retrieve our packages soon after delivery. Fortunately for us, there is one person in our household almost 100% of the time to gather items that arrive via the postal service and other package delivery services.

You can have cameras, but the scumbags that steal packages don't care and there's really no safety for it.

I live in a safe neighborhood and have never had an issue with this. I leave my car doors unlocked. I don't have any cameras or things either.

I live in apartment building and have had stuff that didn't arrive. So you never know.

I've never had a package damaged or stolen, and they're usually just left on my front porch. I've never thought about having them concealed, or getting security cameras installed.

Not very. I think a lot of handlers are often too careless as well and don't respect peoples property.

I do not have a problem with it because I have great neighbors that watch my place well.

he current solutions work fine for me..though most of my "current solution" is to have neighbors nearby and not live in a high crime area, to be honest.

If you won't be home for a period of time, you can have your package delivered to a secure drop box.

I have not had any theft but I have had some slight damage due to delivery drivers leaving packages out in the pouring rain.

I live in an apartment complex, at least, and my closest relatives instilled a Ring camera. The porch pirate phenomenon is real and needs solutions to be dealt with.

I do not have to deal with that, I live in a very safe neighborhood and not one single package has gone missing for me ever and our household gets some sort of Amazon delivery almost every day. Same for neighbors.

I think that I do pretty well, I have a security camera, I have used Amazon pickup and my packages are somewhat concealed.

We have security cameras up and sometimes the delivery person places our packages in a more discreet manner. In general, our neighborhood isn't too bad with package theft.

I feel that there are a number of solutions to prevent damage or theft to packages

I have a drop box at my house

I have a camera in the front of my house. I make sure to have these just in case they do something to my packages.

I'm lucky that my porch is fairy well concealed--we have multiple columns and plants that block potential thieves from seeing what is on the porch unless they walk up to our porch from the driveway. BUT, the neighbors have a camera system on our shared driveway that a thief would see and be aware of. As a result, they would likely not approach our porch. This has prevented us from having any packages stolen--so far.

To be honest, I have never heard of "adequate concealment" or Amazon "pickup", though it is easy to figure out what each is. I live in a small town, a suburban area, and theft really isn't a huge issue. However, there has been two times that one of our neighbors has been caught taking greeting cards out of the mailboxes for our apartment building. She has been caught on camera doing it. Since it happened, it has not happened again, as she was caught. I have never personally had packages stolen. Lost, yes. Stolen, no. I would say people I know are able to prevent it pretty well. Either that or it is a nonissue here.

I'm very well informed on trying to make sure my packages are safe.

I'm fortunate that where I live has parcel lockers and if those fail, there is a concierige that accepts packages. If it's something super important, I track it like a hawk and make sure I am home.

Winning Option: Characteristics and Appeal

  • Option B emerged as the preferred brand packaging design, securing 12 out of 15 votes. Respondents frequently highlighted its aesthetic appeal, emphasizing the luxurious and high-quality impression it conveys. The ability to stack packages was a notable practical advantage mentioned by participants.
  • Several respondents appreciated the monochrome color scheme of Option B, which they found less overwhelming compared to more colorful designs. This preference for simplicity suggests that minimalistic designs may resonate well with this group.
  • Additionally, environmental considerations played a role in favoring Option B; some participants noted its reduced plastic usage and recyclability as attractive features.

Key Topics Across Options

  1. Aesthetic Appeal: Across both options, aesthetics were crucial in influencing preferences. Participants often referred to colors and overall design quality when justifying their choices.

  2. Environmental Concerns: Both options had respondents who valued environmentally friendly aspects of packaging. However, while Option A was praised for being reusable and eco-friendly by some, others perceived Option B’s reduced plastic use as more sustainable.

  3. Practicality: Practical elements such as ease of stacking (Option B) or suitability for travel (Option B) were significant factors in decision-making processes.

Hypotheses for Further Testing

  • Investigate whether minimalistic designs consistently outperform colorful ones across different demographic groups or product categories.

  • Explore if environmental messaging on packaging significantly influences consumer preference when compared with other attributes like luxury perception or practicality.

  • Assess how important stacking capability is relative to other functional benefits in various contexts such as home storage versus travel convenience.

These hypotheses can guide further research into understanding deeper consumer motivations behind packaging preferences observed in this survey context.
