Which book cover do you prefer (and why)? Background: The Reincarnationist Papers book series is about discovered manuscripts that tell the story of a small group of people who have total recall of their past lives and drive history toward their goals.
There was no majority winner of this Ranked poll after 2 rounds of vote counting. However, Option C and Option A had the most votes (25).
In a Ranked poll, respondents rank every option in order of preference. For example, when you test 6 options, each respondent orders their choices from first to sixth place.
PickFu requires a majority to win a Ranked poll. A majority winner differs from a plurality winner. A majority winner earns over 50% of the votes, whereas a plurality winner earns the most votes, regardless of winning percentage.
If an option does not earn a majority of votes, PickFu eliminates the option with the lowest number of votes. The votes from the eliminated option are reassigned based on each respondent’s next choice. This process continues in rounds until a majority winner emerges.
Scores reflect the percentage of total votes an option receives during the vote counting and indicate the relative preference of the respondents. If there is no majority winner, look to the scores to see how the options fared relative to one another.
Option | Round 1 | Round 2 |
---|---|---|
A | 42% 21 votes | 50% 25 votes +4 |
C | 30% 15 votes | 50% 25 votes +10 |
B | 28% 14 votes | Eliminated 14 votes reassigned |

The graphic of the butterfly is the most intriguing, but I also like the creative font in B.
The cover in A is much more attention grabbing
I chose A because of the butterfly, it reminds me of the butterfly effect and how seemingly small things can have an impact on a complex system which seems similar to what the book is about.
seems to be the most intriguing one that gives me the most excitement and seems that it would hold my attention
I think the cover that I like the best here is the one in Choice A. The stylized butterfly artwork here really does it for me, because I can easily see how that relates to the great them of the book itself. Just as butterflies go through lifecycles, so too do the members of this cabal that's behind the book's events. Each new life being another 'stage', basically. I like covers best when they somehow relate to the story within and get you thinking about it.
The moth makes for a cool cover for the book with the stand out embers on the cover of A
Option A does a good job at using a color transition, making everything easy to read, while still drawing attention to the cover art. It blends together well, and creates intrigue.
I like butterflies. The bland background is better than a random profile picture.
I like option A the most. I like how it shows the butterfly in the picture inside of the butterfly. I think option B is good as well because it comes off as mysterious and interesting.
I prefer option A because I think that it is the most interesting, eye-catching, and visually appealing book cover design out of the three options above. I also think that it is the most mysterious and overall the most fitting cover design for this book.
I think that A fits the theme and is very eye catching, it is something I would expect to see with an award winning book.
I think they all look good but I like the looks of A the best. I like C as well but it fails to mention the past movie.
A has more details on the cover. I like the outline of the man on C. B looks more like a textbook.
I love option A the most because it has a butterfly on it and it has the best reincarnation vibes to it.
I prefer this choice because the butterfly is a perfect example of reincarnation. It’s used quite often. I think it perfectly correlates to what this book is about and would definitely catch my eye as a book that I might be interested in reading.
I think A is the best. I like how it advertises the movie at the top, and I like the cover image of the butterfly much more than the other options. It seems the most professional and eye catching.
I really like A, and it makes me want to know more about the book. I also like C. They both convey something interesting is going on
I think the butterfly wings are very attention grabbing. I also like the cityscape that comprises the inner workings of the butterfly wings. It gives me an idea of the theme of the book.
I love movies. There is only one thing that I love more than movies and that is tv shows. I love to binge watch shows. I also love having to wait a week to find out what happens in a show. Thats how the wife and I bond honestly. So I picked the tv show first, then I picked the movie, and then lastly I picked the book. I am not a reader so the book would be my last choice. I hope we don't get graded on grammar or sentence structure.
The look of this cover grabs my attention right away with the butterfly and the fire effect and makes me interested in knowing more about it than the other two options covers do.
All three options are very good and make me pick up the book just by its cover. Option A has a nice butterfly showing some type of butterfly affect theory maybe in the works inside the story. I like this cover to the be the best. Option B also looks nice with in image of the part of the codex. I would try to pick this up and try to read it out if I can. That is good. Option C is good but looks kinda 007 copy so I wouldn't really prefer this one thinking its a copy of that that type of a story

C seems kind of generic to me. A reminds me of silence of the lambs. B is simple, but it looks professional and well done
I think option B with the aged manuscript and images in the text fit your theme very well.
I don't know what any of the images has to do with the book title but I voted based on preferred images
I think the other covers are too clashing and take away from the title which should pull you in for a book like this. Looking at Option B, it makes me want to read more on the back, where as I'd ignore C and A.
I think that option B does a really good job of showing manuscripts along with images from the past. I think that option A does the second best job by showing a book cover that is very interesting and makes you ask questions about why that is the image on the cover. Option C doesn't appeal to me as much because it doesn't really make me ask too many questions and it doesn't help speak to what the book is about.
I like cover option B because it shows an award that was won at the top and the overall design. I don't feel that C or A really make sense.
B depicts the manuscripts are a part of the story as they are graphicly displayed C indicted they are differed scenes but vagueA remined me of silence of the lambs
The covers I find most appealing are those with an exciting background and featuring interesting color schemes. The overall designs are complex with elements that I haven't seen much before.
Option A reminds me too much of the Mothman Prophesies movie. It freaks me out but also makes it seem like its dated. I think Option C also looks a bit creepy (could be a killer on the cover) but also looks like it could be boring (perhaps it is a biography). I think that Option B strikes the perfect balance of intrigue and mystery without being too creepy or scary.
I think B is the best cover, as letting consumers know the book was the basis of a major film could possibly attract fans of the movie. From there, I went to C as my second pick as it grabs my attention and has a very sleek and modern look. I find the overall look of A to be antiquated and not really the best look, though like with B I do appreciate that it notes the film connection.
I choose option B because the cover refers to the series this book is part of very clearly. That would be important to people like me that are not familiar with the series. I choose option C second because I like the look of the figure looking out on the world, over time, and the idea that he contains a variety of experiences which are depicted within his silhouette. Option A didn't do much for me.
Title is easier to read and the simple cover sparks more imagination.
I ranked my choices based on which cover seemed most to represent the term 'codex'.
This option takes a very literal approach and it works well. I like how large the text is. Really stands out. The "award winning" promo helps sell the book too.

I think since it deals with people, showing a person on the cover makes it the most appealing
i think for a book with reincarnation as the theme seeing a person in black shade is the most effective.
Option C had book art that closely matches the intent of the book and makes it a lot more interesting to me.
I chose this option because i find it more attractive and eye catching compared to the other options
I like how the first cover shows it in blocks, gives an idea to the situation. I don't care for the butterfly, it reminds me too much of the butterfly effect, which was my first thought when seeing it.
C reminds me most of a word-type puzzle and that's what I think of when I think about a codex.
I chose option C because I found it the most intriguing. I thought B was not eyecatching at all and didn't make me want to read the book.
This one looks more personal. It has the human touch. It is more relatable and kind of scary.
Option C seems like it could be visually related to the prompt of the book compared to the other options given.
B has kind of a boring look. A is exciting but a little dated. C is my overall favorite of the bunch.
I prefer option C because to me it looks the most interesting and novel. Option A and B don't capture my interest as much!
C - I like this one because it ha the images of what i perceive to be memories of a past life held inside a figure and feel it fits great with the them and idea B - This one is clean and has the showing of a page to fit the name. I do like the way CODEX is shown with all the past images inside and makes it stand outA - I feel that this one is the furthest away from the central idea being shown. I can kinda see how a butterfly is relevant but not as strong as the others.
A matches the description really well and is very intriguing like a spy novel. Same with A but looks like its more about the butterfly effect. B is very generic.
I chose by covers I find the most intersting.
I think this is the most intriguing cover. I like the person in the shadows. I also like how it appears they are puzzling the person together. This makes it seem like there will be meticulous steps to solve any crime that happens.
