Which cover do you prefer for a French Short Stories for Beginners book?
Option A won this Ranked poll with a final tally of 30 votes after 2 rounds of votes counting.
In a Ranked poll, respondents rank every option in order of preference. For example, when you test 6 options, each respondent orders their choices from first to sixth place.
PickFu requires a majority to win a Ranked poll. A majority winner differs from a plurality winner. A majority winner earns over 50% of the votes, whereas a plurality winner earns the most votes, regardless of winning percentage.
If an option does not earn a majority of votes, PickFu eliminates the option with the lowest number of votes. The votes from the eliminated option are reassigned based on each respondent’s next choice. This process continues in rounds until a majority winner emerges.
Scores reflect the percentage of total votes an option receives during the vote counting and indicate the relative preference of the respondents. If there is no majority winner, look to the scores to see how the options fared relative to one another.
Option | Round 1 | Round 2 |
---|---|---|
A | 50% 25 votes | 60% 30 votes +5 |
B | 32% 16 votes | 40% 20 votes +4 |
C | 18% 9 votes | Eliminated 9 votes reassigned |

A interests me with the free audio download included
Choice A is fun and inviting. The audio book is also a desirable added feature. The graphics are fresh and new age. For those reasons I would choose Choice A.
The cafes are legendary, friendly, so I find Option A to be the most enticing cover.
I chose A first, because I like that it makes it clear that there is also an audio download available with the book. I chose B over C next, because it seems unique for a French study book.
I like option A, the cover design very much looks like most of the language textbooks I have used.
The cover picture makes this seem more conversational and useful. Plus the audio download helps ensure proper pronunciation.
I chose A because you can download the audio for free and graphics look the most like it is from France.
A is best-includes audio download; B does not mention beginners-so last choice
I liked how A intimately reflected the culture of the language and seemed warm and engaging.
Option A evokes a sense of fun stories but also a learning experience. I immediately recognize France from the cover and expect to be educated and entertained by the stories.
I think A is the most inviting cover. It feels like a text book that would actually help me learn. B was a little hipper, and seemed cool, but I stil like A more. C was basic, it just looked like an average textbook
I like A with the lovely shop pictured on the cover. It feels like the setting for one of the stories. Choice C with the globe looks like a travel guide.
The aspect of option A that catapaulted this cover to the highest rank was the sticker stating that there was free audio content. I absolutely want to hear correct pronounciation when I am learning a new language and especially if I am trying to learn alone. I grew up in a bilingual household and my hearing the language helped me learn it. Option A's illustration is also the most appropriate and specific for French; the graphic reinforces the title. Option's C title communicates the same info compared to option A but the illustration is very generic. Option B's title is difficult to immediately understand (but uncoventional) and the illustration is very generic (but pretty).
A and C have imagery that more immediatley calls it out as a french book. The shadow of the eiffel tower in B is too subtle to me
I like the cover design more than others. It looks more appealing.
Cozy cafe and clear title makes this a winner.
I like the flag in my last choice, but it shows a lot of other monuments from around the world. I like how my other two options seem to better focus on Paris and France in general.
I chose the covers by the most exciting and inviting looking first.
I like that it has a free audio download because that can help me with pronunciations.
I prefer the illustration of A. It makes the book look fun and interesting.
"A" is first because of the free download. "B" is last because i don't see the word 'beginners' on the cover. if it's there, the letters are too small.
B was my preference because it also noted there was an audio download which would be attractive if you are learning a new language
I prefer A; I like that the title is all in one color and is easy to understand. C is next, B is last.
option A I would choose it first because it says free audio download on it.
I like options A and C a lot. Good design and look. I like option A as the best representation of French and that works well. Looks great for option A!

I liked the font best in B - easiest to read. In terms of cover art, I like the street scene in A so I put that second.
I chose B first because it flipped the title around to make it stories in French, instead of French short stories. It also has a subtitle that mentions reading for pleasure. I ranked the other two options according to what cover illustration I preferred.
I like B the most because it is very clean looking and instantly captured my attention. I would pick up it up and read the back cover if I saw this in the bookstore. I liked option A better than C because it isn't so busy. It is not as nice as B though because it feels like it lacks structure. Option C is bad. It looks so busy and irritates me.
Option B looks the most appropriate for adults.
Looks to be the most enjoyable the others look like school text books
I prefer option B, because it shows both landscapes and landmarks of France with an eye catching background color.
I would buy Option B. The art reminds me of really good books I've read, in English, so I believe I would enjoy learning from this book the most.
Overall, I find B to be the best cover as it is very simple and to the point. It is not intimidating and gives off a welcoming vibe. I like A as my #2 pick because advertising a free audio download w/ purchase is an enticing bonus. I do not think C is the best choice, as the cover reminds me more of a travel guide.
This cover stands out the most with the blue cover background and the bright yellow words FRENCH!
All of them are fine and allude to French culture / icons. C looks like a traditional school book. B is a little more unique. A is fairly generic.
The short stories in french is a fun way to show case this booklet, love the cartoon designs used here.
Option B looks like it has interesting stories. Option A looks more educational and looks like a textbook cover.
Option b is the best choice very simple no distractions from the main idea of the title.
I like Option B the most because it seems the most narrative, like there is a story to tell about the illustration. The dark colors are also cozy. Choice A looks rather boring and generic. Choice C seems likes a travel guide and not about stories at all.
I would buy any of these, but the blue background looks higher quality and more up to date. It is the most evocative of stories to me
I like the colors and images in option B which is the most attention grabbing, but I like all of these and would consider buying any of these.

I think that the cover in option C looks very organized and professional. I think the cover is eye catching and I trust it would contain high quality information
I like option C because it has a france flag and looks neat.
I would be most inclined to purchase option C because it is colorful and eye catching. It makes learning it look fun.
Seeing the flag right away shows me it’s going to be in French and it looks more like it’s geared towards kids
I like the incorporation of the French flag colors on my top image choice
I love the softer colors on this publication. Soft colors for a hard topic.
B's cover simple, mild and lacking in detail and/or context. C is the most engaging and exciting. A is also informative.
I choose C, the style is more attractive the idea and creativeness is very good.
The wording was the most clear on option c. I didn't like the graphics of b as much
